Neighbourhood information

Dating back to the Saxon era, Hingham in now a pretty market town that plays host to a good range of small, independent businesses, that are well-supported by a thriving local community. A fire in the 17th century devastated the original town, with much of what remains today having been re-built, leaving impressive Georgian architecture throughout the market place. There is a Co-op supermarket, a playing field with climbing frame, a charming egg shop, a bakery, a butcher, a pharmacy, an art gallery, and a coffee shop. Local eateries include welcoming pub, The White Hart in Hingham, and, a short car journey away, The Green Dragon in Wymondham. For a fine dining experience, Michelin star chef Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall is a less than half an hour drive away. Nearby Melsop Farm Park is a great family day out specifically designed for maximum interaction with the animals, plus there is a play area and cafeteria. Banham Zoo is only a short drive away, as is the opportunity to explore Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, a unique workhouse museum and traditional farm set in 50 acres of beautiful Norfolk countryside. For a slower pace, enjoy a spa treatment or a round of golf at Barnham Broom. Keen golfers can also play at Mattishall Golf Club, Richmond Park Golf Club, and Bawburgh Golf Club. Hingham is surrounded by fishing lakes, including Barford Railway Lakes, Coston Lakes, Scoulton Mere, and Rocklands Mere. Half an hour away by car is Thetford Forest, with many walks amongst nature to discover, and in the other direction is Roarr! dinosaur adventure park. Nearby Hethel was formerly home to the Formula 1 Team Lotus. While the team no longer competes, there is still the opportunity to take part in factory tours when visiting the Classic Team Lotus factory. Driving experiences can be booked through the Lotus Driving Academy. Thrilling motor racing events can also be found at Snetterton Race Circuit. History lovers must visit Wymondham Abbey, one of the grandest...
