Super cute and cosy, we were lucky to find this at short notice to attend goodwood festival and the location was perfect. The weather was glorious so using the outside toilet and shower wasn’t an issue, so brilliantly made! We enjoyed bbq dinners...

Cozy little hut but felt very spacious. Good quality bed with bedding to make it comfortable, sitting and storage space, small kitchen area with stove, pots & pans and utensils, outside sitting area. Everything that you need to make it a...

Location was lovely, having chickens rustling around outside and the horses in the field behind the hut. The hut was super cosy and lovely with the log burner lit and the fairy lights on. Added bonus of the fire pit outside. Facilities in the hut...

We loved the Shepherd's Hut! An amazing Christmas getaway. Extremely comfy and cosy with the log burner. It had everything we could ask for. The surroundings are beautiful, with horses just outside the window and chickens greeting us each morning...

We had an amazing weekend. The location is idyllic and we loved the hens! The hut is really well thought out, cosy, comfy and great outside space too. We used both beds and the top one is more comfortable than the sofa bed, but we both slept well....

We absolutely loved our stay in the shepherds hut. The staff we met when needed were friendly and helpful but we were also left to enjoy the hut and feel as though we were out in nature. The wood burner was so cosy and the beds were warm and...

There is nowhere like Graffham to feel at one with the countryside. Great views, great walks and great pubs. And the Shepherds Hut is a cosy haven nestled in the middle of it all. Get away, get here. 😁

Meeldis, tegemist oli tõesti teistsuguse kogemusega - see ei ole kõigi mugavustega luksushotell vaid väike onnikene, kus saab aja maha võtta, grillida ja tutvuda vabalt ringi jooksvate loomadega.

Westerlands is set in the South Downs National Park on a quiet farm, this cosy self built shepherd hut, surrounded by birch trees & fields with horses, is a peaceful spot for a romantic getaway. Impressive views of the Downs from the accommodation makes this a stunning setting, with plenty of gorgeous woodland walks close by, as well as links to the South Downs Way and several lovely local pubs nearby. We now also offer horse riding, sauna, massage, yoga & reflexology, so why not treat yourself? It’s cosy in the winter, well-insulated and once the wood burner is going you will be very toasty. In the summer, open all the windows and doors and feel truly at one with your surroundings. Facilities: The shepherd’s hut has a king size bed and a king size sofa bed below if needed. Bedding and towels are provided (but please let me know if you need extra bedding for 2nd sofa bed.) There is electricity, so you can charge phones and laptops and there is a compost toilet nearby (30 metres away). This is closed in the winter season, but there is a flushing toilet with shower in the main house that is available to use throughout the year. This is approximately 1 minute walk away from the shepherd hut. Although this is shared, it’s not the main bathroom for the house and is very rarely used by others, the only people it is likely to be used by are other airbnb guests from my yurt. The Shepherd hut has a basic kitchenette area inside with a electric hob cooker, a small fridge, fresh drinking water, a kettle, cooking pot, frying pan, plates, bowls, cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil are also available. There is a fire bowl provided outside to make a fire or cook food on. (Fire logs and kindling are provided to make one or two fires and if you need more we sell bags of logs. Water for washing up and drinking is provided in the kitchen. (The water is potable, but it is filled up from the mains)
Hi my name is Emma :) Westerlands farm is where I grew up , so its my family farm which I love very much! I used to be carpenter so every accommodation situated here, the yurt, shepherd hut and cabin I built and decided to make them into places for people to stay, as I too enjoyed living in each one in different stages of my life. I hope you will enjoy it too! Westerlands feels very cut of from the busy world outside, there is a lot of open space and amazing views of the South Downs. I always feel very free here and instantly relaxed., hence why my sisters and I have still not flown the nest ! Instead we work together to make this place almost a retreat for others to enjoy nature, and the wonderful activities you can do here ie horse riding, walking or renting an electric bike to explore further afield though the idyllic quiet countryside. There is also excellent pub s near by, some within walking distance and beautiful old historical towns close by to explore.
The South Downs Way takes around 1hr walk to access and there are many circular routes back to the site. To find excellent walks around here please download a free app called Alltrails, really easy to use or I have os maps provided in the accommodation where you can follow your own footpaths from the farm. Most Thursdays to Sundays, during spring&summer holidays, our local campside called woodfire we’ll be cooking up something delicious for breakfast and evening meals. It’s always over woodfire or charcoal, either on the grill or in the pot. Breakfast tends to be tea or coffee with a bacon/egg sandwich or avocado bagels. Dinner is usually grilled meat or fish and salads or delicious stews with gremolata and home-made flatbreads – we always provide a vegetarian option. Our meat is free range; our salad and many of our vegetables come from the nearby kitchen garden and wherever possible, we source our ingredients locally. Plans for summer 2020 include outdoor feast nights and guest chefs, as well as day and residential mid-week courses in fire-cooking, foraging and butchery. (let me know if your interested in eating here , as i will send you the menu a week before. Orders have to be placed 5 days before arrival) (Woodfire campsite is closed from October till the end of March ) There are local heathland areas and Petworth Park to enjoy walking in. The River Rother and Arun are close by, which runs through Arundel that has a stunning cathedral and castle with breath taking views. There is also the Pulborough Brooks Nature Reserve around 20-30 minutes drive away. The picturesque village of Graffham is a 5 minute drive or beautiful 30 minute walk away with a well stocked and friendly village shop with yummy pastries in the morning.
