We visited this lovely little off grid wagon for one night and loved it! The space is small and compact but beautifully furnished and very comfortable, with a view over the beach that is to die for! There is no running water or electricity but...

Amazing location out in the wild. Very comfortable bed, cosy fire, lots of little details thought of. Host was super informative and offered for us to cancel based on the crazy weather but we stuck it out and really enjoyed the experience.

The croft was exactly as described. Lovely rural location, beautiful views, really quaint and well-provided for inside the shepherd's hut.

Great location. Cosy. Insanely pretty beach. Rolled up and had a nice evening by the beach. Walked back to play Scrabble and enjoy a drink... Woke up for an early departure to hit the nc500. We loved it and loved how much effort the host puts in :)

Absolutely loved it! Best nights sleep I’ve had in months. The coziness of the bothy with the fabulous view, welcomed by sheep singing in the field and the sound of the rain and wind whilst tucked up. Host was perfect giving all the information...

Company information

I have worked for years to save my family land from being lost, and have now finally succeeded. I’ve now returned to live here again full time, and continue to diversify the land. The money you pay for your stay, goes back in to the Croft to help with this regeneration. Trees are being planted and ponds are being created, to aid with water drainage. You will see many rare orchids growing in the field, as this is a protected field due to its habitat and wildlife here.

Property information

This property has no electricity and no running water. There is a basic compost toilet in a hut, down a rough field pathway. This property is not for the faint hearted. If you love camping and outdoor living and adventure, then you will love staying here. If you like the finer things in life… then it’s probably not for you. I’d much rather be honest, to ensure you have a great visit here and know what to expect on arrival. There’s a basic camp stove to cook with, a pan and a few plates and some cutlery. I ask that litter is taken away with you on departure, and that everything is left as you have found it. This property is on a working Croft, meaning there is likely to be sheep and lambs in the field. No dogs are permitted during your stay and the gate must be kept closed at all times. This is a no smoking accommodation and it’s not suitable for children, due to the steps and the stove. If you are lucky to be here on a sunny day, you can enjoy our wonderful beach, which is often listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. My family have lived and worked here for over 250 years. I look forward to welcoming you here, for this unique experience.

Neighbourhood information

Oldshoremore is mainly a Crofting community. You will see donkeys, sheep, Highland cows, alpaca, horses, ducks, hens and goats all around the land here at Oldshoremore. You will see critters working on their land, tractors passing, sheep being herded from field to field, and you may be lucky and see our resident Sea Eagles. The Vikings once lived here, with King Hako himself residing here during the time of the Battle of Largs. My own family, and other families here were burnt out of their homes around 1820s onwards and forced to take boats to Canada and America, but my family chose to be moved to here, and make a new life here at Oldshoremore. It was a hard life, and to this day it still can be. Only the hardy and stubborn survive up here! I am very proud of my family heritage, and I am here working and living at the Croft, to insure my crofting and family heritage is protected and respected. There are no groceries stores in Oldshoremore, but there is phone signal now, and beautiful beaches. There are local walks too, that go across the Machair/hills and across to Sandwood Bay. Kinlochbervie is the neighbouring village, and is only 2 miles away. You will find a groceries store there, a cafe and a petrol station. The shop is open till 8pm week days and 6pm on weekends. The petrol station is closed on Sundays.
