We spent almost a week at Ffyllon Fawr, about halfway between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, and had an excellent time. The property, a former farmhouse, is really nice and very large, with plenty of parking and indoor and outdoor space. It was perfect...

The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped, with peace and privacy, in a beautiful part of the world. The owners are friendly and helpful. The coast path is spectacular and watching dolphins from a boat at Newquay was wonderful.

This was by far the best holiday home I have stayed in for many years. The log fires were the highlight in a cold place. I used it as a base to visit family in Wales and will do so again. Every thing you would need was in place, including tea,...

Fantastic stay for a few days in wales. Spotlessly clean, log fire, conformable living room, big kitchen. Red Kites in the skies above the house. Dark skies for stargazing.

Ffyllon Fawr is a south facing farmhouse built in approx 1900 and has been sympathetically renovated and modernised. The front of the property and parking area has recently been resurfaced. (Please note that bedrooms not requested and booked for are locked. This allows us to offer a much reduced booking cost for a smaller number of guests. The farmhouse is not shared with other guests.) The farmhouse is in an elevated position and overlooks the farmyard where the old stone cowsheds have been converted into two small cottages. To one side is a level patio area with a picnic table and bench (and a rotary clothes line) leading onto a sloping lawned area. There is ample parking space on the other side of the farmhouse. Please be aware that there are 4 speed humps along the lane leading up to the farmhouse. Please reduce your speed and drive carefully (N.B There may be children playing). Ground floor - kitchen, living room (wood-burner available October-April) double and shower room. Upstairs - 2 double bedrooms, cot room, single bedroom and bathroom. As the farmhouse is in an elevated position, children would need supervision as there are unfenced areas with high drops to the rear and sides. * Please note that bedrooms not requested and paid for will be locked.
Hello we are Alan and Janette. We are married with three grown up children and four grandchildren. Janette's grandparents lived and worked at the farm. We live next door and look forward to welcoming you to the farmhouse.
The farmhouse is located just off the coastal road, 2 miles south of the harbour town of Aberaeron, 20 miles south of Aberystwyth and 20 miles north of Cardigan. The coastal path of Cardigan Bay can be joined at Gilfach yr Halen which is a pebbly cove less than 2 miles from the farmhouse. Although off the main road we are not remote and the village of Llwyncelyn is about a half a mile walk. The village has a petrol station, convenience store and a small post office. Two miles north is the picturesque town of Aberaeron with its multi-coloured houses, attractive harbour and it has much to offer visitors. It has small quaint shops, cafes and restaurants. Aberaeron is a rare example of a town in Wales that was planned from the outset. The town as we know it today began in 1807 when the Rev Alban Thomas-Jones Gwynne obtained a private Act of Parliament to rebuild the harbour. Subsequently the town was planned in the regency style around a large open square.
