Peter is a brilliant host, felt more like staying with family than a hotel. The house is beautiful and full of history. Plenty to see and do around the house with a few recommended pubs and walks a short drive away.

Florence Nightingale was deeply attached to Lea Hurst, the family's summer home, writing that "it breaks my heart to leave Lea Hurst". It is easy to see why. The house sits in a magnificent position, on the edge of the village of Holloway, overlooking the Derwent Valley, a World Heritage Site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The house has been lovingly furnished with many elegant period pieces and Nightingale artefacts, whilst also retaining the genuine warmth and comfort of a family home. Each of our 4 historic Suites enjoys beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. READY TO WELCOME GUESTS FOR POST-LOCKDOWN BREAKS! We are looking forward to opening the doors of Lea Hurst to guests from July 4. Mirroring Florence Nightingale's unrelenting focus on cleanliness and hygiene, we have striven to ensure that Lea Hurst provides a totally safe environment for our guests. Each bedroom and all public spaces are meticulously cleaned before, during and after guest visits, so that all guests can stay with complete confidence in the safety of their environment. The layout of our spacious and airy home facilitates social distancing, with multiple reception rooms and separate areas for dining by request. Guests can also take advantage of Lea Hurst's spectacular gardens and various outdoor seating areas during their stay
Lea Hurst is an attractive Derbyshire manor house, once described by its previous occupant, Florence Nightingale, as 'a small, 15 bedroom country house'! Our family has spent the last 5 years restoring this lovely historic home, with an eye both on revealing its history as the favourite home of Florence Nightingale, and on recreating a warm and comfortable family home. This is reflected in our collection of elegant period furnishings and interesting historical artefacts related to Nightingale, with comfortable reception rooms warmed by log fires, and tastefully furnished bedroom suites that guarantee a comfortable night's sleep. We also pride ourselves on offering a delicious cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients to start your day!
Lea Hurst is located on the edge of the village of Holloway, and enjoys stunning views over the Derwent Valley, a World Heritage Site. We are next to the Peak District National Park with its pretty stone villages, fabulous hiking and biking trails, beautiful Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and heritage buildings. We are surrounded by glorious scenery, traditional country pubs and cafes, and vibrant market towns. Children will enjoy Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham in nearby Matlock
