Our stay at Headson Farmhouse was spot on. The house is beautiful in a remote and quiet location but within 20 minute access to Okehampton, 45 minutes from Widemouth and Bude and less and an hour from the Eden project and on the doorstep of...

Reviews from guests who booked elsewhere: "Lovely quiet house, the bedrooms look like they were straight from Jane Austen, nicely decorated. Modern kitchen and bathroom. Very conveniently situated near the A30, great for visiting Cornwall." "What a lucky find this was! A truely beautiful place, views to die for and everything you want to relax and enjoy. Sites, walks and beaches within striking distance."
Longer stays preferred. Try adding a second week at around half the price of the first. Try a 21 night stay to get the nightly price even lower. This is a lovely old house with all the character and individuality you'd expect. We try to make a spotless but comfortable place for guests to feel at home. The garden is a farmhouse garden with bushes and wild flowers that come out at different times. Right now rhodedendron and fuchsias are flowering. Other times, you may spot snowdrops, bluebells, swathes of daffodils, wild primroses and strawberries, wild herbs and an old lavender variety grow free and roses on old and knarled bushes are picturesquely overgrown. Next to the field is a chill area with some easy chairs and a view across the valley to Dartmoor.
Literally in the middle of Devon and Cornwall. Between the moors with Dartmoor 20 mins drive or the wilder Bodmin moor 30 mins. The North Cornwall coast can be reached in around 50 mins just South of Tintagel. The stunning coastal path has ancient rugged buildings as a backdrop. Bude, Port Isaac (aka Port Wenn in Doc Martin) and Padstow are all nearby from there. The South coast around Polperro is also around an hour taking the scenic roads skirting Bodmin moor with its old mine buildings. Torquay is reached in under an hour and a quarter using the fast and mostly traffic free A30 amd A38 or a longer meander across the middle of Dartmoor will take you via small moorland villages and the interesting town of Totnes. Lovely old towns closer by include castles at Okehampton and Launceston (both sub 30 mins), world heritage site Tavistock and the chacterful Hatherleigh (both ca 35 mins) where residents use the old carriage entrance or a little table by their door as a market stall. Cities of Plymouth with stunming coastal vistas and Exeter with its cathedral and riverside cafes are both under an hour. Most of Cornwall is under 2 hours drive. The old farmhouse feels peaceful and away from it all but the 24hr mo-sa Tesco superstore at Launceston is under 20 mins. Waitrose is at Okehampton and Hathetleigh.
