Amazing location in such a quiet beautiful valley. Stayed at both properties but mainly used the barn which was lovely and cosy. Lovely garden and the bbq/fire pit was great. Very comfortable bedrooms too.

Traditional farmhouse and modern barn conversion available ideal for families and other groups. Nestling at the end of a breathtaking valley in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, this is the perfect holiday destination. A peaceful, romantic retreat from the modern world, the large barn is architect designed, bright and contemporary. The main space is a large open room, big enough for family gatherings. A separate bedroom sleeps 2 in a four-poster bed, with an additional double bed in a converted attic space. The large dining room and sitting area is cosy in winter months and bright and airy in the summer, well furnished and equipped with fridge, cooker, dishwasher and central heating. The traditional Welsh farmhouse has 3 bedrooms – 1 four-poster, 1 double and one twin bed, and a sitting room with a huge log fire. The house is simple and welcoming with whitewashed walls and old beams, with a dining room, galley kitchen and bathroom. In the small kitchen you will find everything you need - a butler sink, (but no dishwasher). However most groups decide to eat meals together in the barn. The farmhouse is rustic hardy but with central heating, a washing machine and a freezer. Gesail is nestled at the foot of a mountain surrounded by beautiful Snowdonia countryside which can be enjoyed exclusively by your family, friends, children and pets. This tranquillity can be further enjoyed within the properties with no television or mobile signal, giving the sense of a real retreat. However there is WIFI for internet and What`s App connection. We take laptops for watching films and both houses are equipped with books, music, games and maps and a selection of DVDs for a together family feel. Please note that guests will be required to drive through a ford if they want to drive to the house or they can walk through in boots (the ford generally is passable by non-agricultural vehicles - although not suitable for low cars! Please note we do not accept any hen or stag parties.
Gesail Barn and Farmhouse has been in the Minns family for 4 generations and the interiors reflect that we are mostly a mixture of architects and theatre designers which I hope you will find is evidenced in the beautiful interiors. We will provide you with plenty of information about the wonderful hikes, hidden lakes, best restaurants, music nights and fun activities to make your stay extra special. We have a local couple on hand to answer any queries if you need anything or have any questions! We as a family want you to have a wonderful stay. Upon request the farmhouse and Barn can be booked separately.
Outside are a stream, a mossy wood and a little bake house, and guests have access to 690 acres of private land in Snowdonia National Park with great hiking routes. A recent award was presented to us for the sensitive conservation of old buildings by the Campaign for the Preservation of Rural Wales. Please note that guests will be required to drive through a ford if they want to drive to the house or they can walk through in boots (the ford generally is passable by non-agricultural vehicles - although not suitable for low cars! - however we are obliged to say guests should assess for themselves when they arrive). Gesail is situated at the top of the Cywarch Valley, across a ford with enchanting walks, climbs, rare birds, riding, canoeing, swimming and fishing nearby. The land contains woodland, many streams and waterfalls and a mountain with the highest lake in Wales at the summit - if you can find it! The stars in the night sky can be amazingly bright and clear – take your telescope or binoculars! (The ford is not suitable for sports cars, which can be parked just outside the gate). Gesail is wonderful for children, who can build dams, make camps or play games and cook sausages by the fire. Suggested activities: Birdwatching, Visit to Portmerrion, local steam train ride, visit to slate caverns, Harlech Castle, Machynlleth Market, Climbing, Canoing, Beaches, Horse Riding
