Company information

Glendale Guesthouse is a family run B&B with Ann, Paul and our son Benjamin we became the very proud owners of this wonderful Victorian Property in June 2016. Although we are relatively new to both Penrith & Glendale we have settled into our lovely new home and this wonderful location, with great ease. Since taking over Glendale Guesthouse we have undertake a period of updating and renovation, which we continue to complete. We have currently updated a number of our letting rooms and will shortly update and refurbish the remainder of them. We also intend to update the central locations bringing to life our beautiful hallway and spacious dining room. Our son, Ben, also plays and active role within the B&B and enjoys delivering some of the breakfast service with a continued supply of teas, coffees and warm toast, he is an expert now at all three! As a family we are dedicated to ensuring that our guest experience with us, is one which they thoroughly enjoy and depart feeling fully relaxed and completely satisfied with all aspects of their stay.

Glendale Guesthouse is a truly delightful Victorian House dating back to the 1800's. Built in a traditional style of this period, from Cumbrian Red Sand Stone, it features an impressive bay window to the front with original marble pillared entrance doorway. Our delightful home and guesthouse supports lots of original Victorian features, such as ceiling cornice with large rooms and high ceilings. All our rooms also feature picture rails with most of our rooms also featuring lots of other original features such as window panels and traditional light switches and all with large skirting panels too. Our impressive entrance hallway is wide and roomy and features a truly breath-taking original carved, solid wood, banister rail with wide & easy staircase. Glendale's dining room is sure to deliver not only a relaxing and comfortable dinning experience, but you will also feel the true atmosphere of this delightful Victorian home with its impressive bayed window still supporting the original high-quality timber panels as well as supporting an impressive marble fire surround and traditional inset fire.

Neighbourhood information

Centrally located on Portland Place, we are situated in a quiet and tranquil part of Penrith, but we surprisingly centrally located too and very close to the Town Centre being only a very short, less than 5 min, walk from the centre of Penrith.. As such we are very close to all local amenities, but although we are situated is such a close location our position is very quiet and tranquil and our outlook to both front and rear of our property delivers building-less, unrestricted views over the delightful and peaceful Church Grounds to the rear and the newly formed and perfectly maintained Penrith Coronation Garden to the front. We are set in a row of delightful Victorian period Terrace Properties, built with tremendous style and great character, these properties are impressive three story buildings, which when originally built would have been occupied by families of some wealth. Our property we understand was originally occupied by 'The Eddington Family' with Daniel Charles Eddington (born in 1866 in Edinburgh) at the head along with his wife Francis and their son.
