Company information

Bolthole Retreats was founded in 2017 by Martin McWilliam and is based in Cheltenham. We are the leading independent agency for Cotswold holiday rental properties. We work closely with owners and housekeepers to ensure that guests have a truly memorable stay. We pride ourselves on our local knowledge, whether it be of a local farm shop, cycle routes or events. Our aim is to enable guests to have the opportunity to enjoy authentic Cotswold experiences, from the Cotswold experts, in a lovely Cotswold property that suits their needs.

Property information

The Granary is a delightful, reverse-living, three-bedroom converted barn, with stunning views across the North Cotswold and Warwickshire countryside. It sits surrounded by the owner’s beautiful gardens and apple orchard, which guests are free to explore and enjoy. In addition, the cottage has a south-facing sundeck and a dedicated patio for outdoor entertaining. The original 1900’s exposed oak beams and stone footings blend perfectly with the modern features and facilities, including wooden flooring, two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The Granary is perfectly situated to explore the immediate Cotswold villages of Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water on foot or by bike or Stratford-upon-Avon and Blenheim by car. Book with us to get exclusive discounts to top attractions and experiences. Please note a 25% deposit is required at the time of booking. This is fully refundable up to 60 days of arrival when your remaining balance payment is due. 2 well-behaved dog/s are welcome for an additional fee of 40 GBP per dog. This fee is not included in the rental price. Please advise us at the time of booking if you are bringing a dog/s and you will be sent a request for the additional fee.

Neighbourhood information

The Granary is in the beautiful grounds of Rectory Farm, a handsome red-brick property dating to the 1850s, which is almost equidistant from the tiny Cotswold villages of Great Wolford and Barton-on-the-Heath. It sits atop a small hill with stunning views to the church spire of St Michael & All Angels in Great Wolford and Brailes Hill in the distance. The Granary is very much far from the madding crowd yet is just two miles from Compton village where there is a great pub - The Red Lion - and is only 30 minutes’ drive from many of the region’s most popular locations, including Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water and Blenheim Palace.
