I didn't use the breakfast option as I was meeting friends elsewhere but the fridge, microwave and crockery in the room would have been very useful if I'd been making my own.

Highermead House has a story to tell. Over 125 years, this beautiful building has been: a nightclub to a care home, a gentlemen’s residence to a hotel. Today, it is returning as a guesthouse. We are Kasey, Jon, and our two boys. We’ve taken on the rewarding challenge of bringing Highermead back to life. Bit by bit, we are restoring it to its former glory. While there are still finishing touches to complete, we hope you’ll see past those and enjoy the charm of what we’ve already brought back to life. At Highermead House, every room is designed to give you both comfort and independence: Choose from King-size doubles or spacious family rooms. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom. Every room has a kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, fridge-freezer, toaster, full set of crockery, glassware, & silverware. Perfect for a quick snack/a family meal. We want your stay to feel like a home. Whether you’re on a short break, family holiday, a long stay or working away from home you’ll find Highermead House blends historic character with modern convenience. Relax, unwind, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of a house that has welcomed generations of guests in many different ways. Kasey has always had a passion for interior design — collecting little “treasures,” decorating, and turning vision into reality. Combined with a family history in hospitality (she is the third generation to run a guesthouse), this adventure feels like the perfect way to blend work and family life. Running Highermead while restoring it is not just a project — it’s a way of life. Thank you for choosing to be part of the continuing story of Highermead House. We’re so glad to welcome you, and we hope your time here is both comfortable and memorable. Camelford is a fantastic central base for exploring the very best of North Cornwall. Just 6 miles from the coast, you’ll find a string of pretty coastal villages and beautiful beaches within easy reach. Head inland, and in only 3 miles you’ll discover the rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor — perfect for walks, history, and wild open landscapes. Whether you’re drawn to seaside charm, dramatic countryside, or family adventures, you won’t run out of things to see and do. And of course, we’ll be happy to share our favourite local spots, from cosy pubs to hidden gems.
