Spacious mobile home with views of the sea in isolated location in Heaste about 15 mins drive over a single track hill road from Broadford

Beautiful, remote-feeling location but only 10 minutes from Broadford. Very cozy and warm with lots of light. Great wi-fi connection. There were biscuits and tea available. We went to the co-op in Broadford to get milk and sugar.

Caravan was much more spacious than expected and toasty warm. Very comfortable. You do need a car to explore Skye though (I would recommend a car for any location in Skye though). Gorgeous scenery around the caravan. Hosts replied to messages...

L'emplacement est très bien. On se croit au bout du monde et il y a un espace extérieur.

Our retreat has sea views of Loch Eishort with lots of natural light. It has off-road parking in a gated garden. There are two bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite toilet and there is a separate shower room with a second toilet opposite the second bedroom. The accommodation is in a crofting village on a road with little traffic, only 5 miles from restaurants and a 24 hour petrol station. It has a microwave and fridge freezer, with bed linen and towels provided. We provide tea and coffee. Heaste Retreat has the bonus of sea views, which can be enjoyed from the living room or driveway or on walks from the gated entrance down to the shore and the area gives a feeling of space, perfect for relaxing in. Many guests have enjoyed the peaceful surroundings after a busy day of exploring Skye, or in anticipation of exploring Skye the following day! Being at the bottom of the village, it has very little through traffic and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. There are sea eagles and golden eagles that nest nearby and can sometimes be seen soaring overhead. The open plan living room has triple aspect windows with views down to the sea 250 yards away. There is plenty of seating on the comfortable sofas, where you can relax with a book, or gaze at the wonderfully scenic mountains. There is a TV and a DVD player (with various DVD titles to watch) and also an iPhone Speakerdock. Some guests find that it is so relaxing that they want to come simply for a retreat and many wish they had stayed a day or two more. If you have any other questions about the area, please ask. We are 4.5 miles from the village of Broadford, where there are shops, a pharmacy, a hospital with A&E department, a post office, eating places, including restaurants and take-away shops and buses that can take you to different parts of the island.
In 1853, there was a small township, called Boreraig, on the north shore of Loch Eishort on Skye with approximately 22 families residing, about 150 people. It was cleared to make way for sheep farming that year and with homes being burned and left ruined, many of the residents relocated to neighbouring villages with croft land to work. Heaste was one of those villages, where my wife's ancestors arrived and settled and where we live. We purchased the crofthouse that was her great grandmother's, which was lived in by her great aunt and uncle until it was put up for sale in 1994. The site is 0.3 acres and we have fenced off a large portion of the garden with its own entrance to establish a holiday retreat for guests to come and visit the island. It is truly remote, yet cared for and with very friendly neighbours in the neighbouring homes, there is enough going on to feel that it is not isolated.
The most exciting thing about visiting Heaste is the amazing feeling of being in an open and restful place to relax in. The feeling of peace and tranquillity is unparalleled.
