It was a bit difficult to find. A notice !B&B at he bottom of their road would have helped. It s an old manor house with two staircases. TV s in the residents lounge not in bedroom. Pub is nearby for food. Breakfast reasonable. Friendly...

We had a great midweek stay with Nicky and Simon, their three friendly dogs and their free-range cat. Comfy room in a remarkable house and we can recommend the fresh breakfast. Lovely people and nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to staying...

Simon & Nicky
Melcombe nestles in its own beautiful valley in the heart of Dorset, with far reaching views over fields and woodland, in the middle of its own estate. The approach is by a private road along an avenue of lime trees, then under the magnificent copper beech to the garden. There are just two sumptuous double rooms each with its own ambience on the second floor with brand new ensuite bathrooms and a shared Sitting Room with television and video. Additional rooms may be available from time to time
Simon & Nicky are delighted to welcome you to there home, the Grade I listed Higher Melcombe Manor. Simon still works at the Hampshire Farm running a Wholesale Business & Farm . Nicky spends her time looking after children, horses & dogs at Higher Melcombe Farm and running B&Bs.
Higher Melcombe Manor is a peaceful place, whether you want to explore historic mid-Dorset, tramp the byways of the Wessex Ridgeway to the Dorset Gap - or just relax with a good book. The two acre garden wraps around the house, to south, east and west. The market towns of Dorchester & Blandford are 20 minutes from the house, with lovely restaurants and bars. Local pubs within ten minutes include, The Fox in the local village Ansty ( including village shop ),The Rivers Arms in Cheselbourne, The Ibberton in Ibberton, The Blue Vinny in Cheselbourne, The Brace of Pheasants in Plush, Hambro Arms in Milton Abbas . Further afield there’s the Jurassic Coast, and lots of local activities and visitor attractions.
