The house was very atmospheric and our bedroom was truly beautiful. It had gorgeous views from 2 windows and a four poster bed. The house was originally the home of the Duke of Beaufort and this had been his bedroom. However the best thing was the...

Llangattock Park House was built in about 1838 for the Duke of Beaufort by T.H.Wyatt as a summer and hunting residence. The Tenth Duke took a particular interest in Llangattock in the early 1900’s and from 1906 until about 1920 the house was used as a summer residence. The house is a two storeyed, neo-Tudor building in local stone with Bath stone dressings and a gabled slate roof. An Octagonal entrance tower is sited at the front of the property, in which there is a high Gothic door where it is rumoured the Duke rode his horse into the entrance where he would warm up next to the hallway stove and have a stiff drink! The Beaufort Crest adorns the wall above the door. The house has many historical features including gargoyles, a green man and griffins holding shields bearing the Beaufort Crest. According to an estate map from the late eighteenth century the land belonging to the house covered an area of approximately 382 acres. The Brecon and Monmouthshire canal was built in the late eighteenth century which bisected the southern section of the park. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful house which has so much character and history attached. Llangattock Park House was one of five local houses to be featured in the recently published book, ‘Great Houses of Crickhowell’. The house overlooks the Black Mountains. Ancient, ornamental trees including oak, yew and chestnut surround the house, the Onneu stream whose origin is the Llangattock Caves set above the house, runs through the garden. Please sit and relax in the garden, watch as the resident heron fishes in the pool or the kingfisher bides awhile on the ornamental fountain.
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our guests, both old and new. We opened our bed and breakfast in 2018 but due to the pandemic were forced to close in 2020. During 2018 and 2019 we thoroughly enjoyed welcoming guests to our home from all over the world. We are delighted to be open once again and can promise that our guests will receive the warmest of welcomes. We have both lived in either Llangattock or Crickhowell since childhood and so have a great deal of knowledge regarding the area which we are able to share with our guests. Rory is an avid, experienced walker, including completing local walks of up to 50 miles within a 15 hour timeframe. He can advise as to where best to enjoy local walks to suit all abilities.
We live in an absolutely stunning part of the world in the heart of the magnificent Black Mountains and within the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacon’s National Park). With gorgeous scenery, walks and cycle routes which can be enjoyed from the doorstep of our house, this is the ideal location for anyone wanting to escape to the breathtakingly beautiful Welsh countryside. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is a few hundred yards from our home, there is also horse riding, canoeing, mountain biking, paragliding and many other outdoor activities available in the locality. Llangattock is a short walk away from the picturesque town of Crickhowell and there are many lovely pubs and restaurants nearby as well as many numerous places of interest.
