Located at the edge of a dairy farm, it is secluded and private. You will have a sea of barley in your feet, and acorn trees on top. It is off the grid but there is a very handy solar panel to charge your phones. The shower is hot! If you are a...

Authentic Mongolian yurt in the middle of the beautiful Devon countryside that prides itself in being in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. The yurt is nestled in Oak Woodland, beside a stream & close to a footpath leading into the charming town of Colyton. Seating & barbecue area offer a perfect spot for enjoying the peace & quiet and beauty of the countryside. Exclusive use of flushing toilet, shower & sink provides luxury & an outside kitchen makes your stay easy and comfortable. The yurt has a king size bed, double sofa bed, wood stove and 2 arm chairs. It has been tastefully decorated to fit in with the authentic Mongolian theme. The outdoor space has a seating and cooking area plus outdoor kitchen. There is also a bathroom with sink, large shower and flushing toilet just a few steps from the entrance to the yurt. The parking area is situated on the farm. It’s a good ten minute walk from their to the site along a farm track. This can become muddy when wet. From the yurt you can access public footpaths easily. You are far away from any houses so get true privacy. Please bring wellie boots as the farm track to the yurt can become very muddy.
My husband and I live on a farm in beautiful part of East Devon with our daughter and son. My husband is a dairy farmer and I’m a primary school teacher. As well as cows on the farm there are chickens, ducks, dogs, geese and turkeys. We enjoy the outdoors, good food and music festivals.
You will be situated in the middle of fields so you will be able to experience true tranquility. Colcombe Abbey Farm itself is in an area of national outstanding beauty situated between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. A short walk will take you to the tramway where you can get a tram alongside the river Axe to Seaton, the gateway to the Jurassic coast which is famous for fossil hunting. The area offers some remarkable food including the well known River Cottage which is a 10 minute drive away. Colyton is steeped in history originally being a Saxon town. It has the reputation of being England's most rebellious town dating back to the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. The pretty villages of Colyford, Southleigh, Northleigh and Farway lie nestled in the heart of the Coly Valley nearby. The quaint fishing village of Beer, the famous Cob at Lyme Regis, the Georgian resort of Sidmouth are all on the doorstep. A 40 minute drive away is the stunning Cathedral in Exeter.
