Lovely lodge 6 miles from Crieff. You can walk down the drive to check out Orchil Castle and it's small loch. We booked the two rooms, giving us lots of space for our motorbike gear. It also meant that we had the shared bathroom and lounge to...

Having visiting the area for work purposes, what I enjoyed most about the North Lodge of Orchil was its location. This property is a turn off the road A822, however, remains peaceful to get a restful nights sleep. For me, this made it very...

A part of the house was built in the 1830s makes the North lodge of Orchil a listed property. The interiors are modern and kept clean to provide comfort. And the lane between the Lodge and the Orchil castle will be mostly all yours shared by wildlife. Depending on the time of the year, you may be able to pick wild raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and even chanterelles and porcini ! The house has a garden spread over almost 4 acres - most of it left natural, a pond, and we grow our vegetables. All around are woods, heather-grassland muir grazing for sheep, quiet lanes for walks and cycling. Perfect place for both outdoorsy and indoorsy folks. We provide an exclusive living-cum-dining room to our guests. It has a flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, french press/cafetiere, china and cutlery. So all that one may need to eat is available, you can happily buy your breakfast items and ready to eat meals for lunch/dinner or visit nearby villages and towns. Please let there be no on two accounts : 1. Breakfast can be arranged by the host if informed before check-in and against a small payment to cover the cost. But we prefer the guests bringing their own breakfast. Tea and coffee are provided on-the-house. 2. TV can be watched in the guest living room. The wi-fi works well, and just in case you have any difficulty - Iain can sort it out for you, if you mention it !
Like to meet and help people who are away from home. As I myself travel frequently, I understand the needs of travellers - whether away from home for leisure or work. Life's motto is Carpe diem. We need to learn to live and value each day of our journey on this beautiful planet.
Directions Coming from the west, take the A822 from the A9 at Greenloaning. Pass through Braco and head up the hill towards Crieff. The house is almost exactly 3 miles form the 30 mph sign entering Braco. Turn right at the layby with bins and a sign to Orchil Castle (opposite Kaimes Cottage), and then turn immediately left into the property. From the east, take the A893 off the A9 after Auchterarder, head to Crieff past Gleneagles hotel, take left onto the A822 (first major junction), and head up the hill. The property is the first house by the road on your left - opposite Kaimes Cottage as mentioned above. Nearby villages/towns/cities are Auchterarder, Braco, Crieff, Comrie, Stirling, Dunblane, Perth. Edinburgh and Glasgow are a little less than an hour's driive. Lots of nature walks around, Roman road, Roman fort remains, etc for those interested in history and architecture. Edinburgh and Galsgow airports are both about 50 mins drive from the property
