An open plan self catering cottage in the Cumbrian Lake District, with wood burner, original slate floors and it's own private hot tub. The Old Bakehouse is a character 18th Century converted cottage set on our working farm converted into a ground floor 1 bedroom attached property which can sleep up to 2 guests. The bedroom has a zip & link bed so can be 1 super king or twin beds, there is a wet room in the cottage with a walk-in shower, toilet & washbasin. There is an open plan living area & kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine. The property is fully under floor heated. It has it's own patio area and outdoor furniture.
Stephen & Julie offer a warm welcome to all our guests visiting Shepherds Views Holidays. We have enjoyed welcoming and meeting new guests for the last 10 years. We run this business along with our working farm with 2 of our daughters, Victoria & Chloe. At dusk or dawn, you may spot our resident Barn Owl hunting for food, or our bats, which are fascinating to watch darting to & fro in the evening sky.
We are set within a backdrop of the Wasdale hills & valley. We are ideally situated for visiting the L'aal Ratty Steam Railway which takes you from Ravenglass to Eskdale. Also Muncaster Castle with it's beautiful gardens and birds of prey display. Just a 15 minute drive will take you to The Wasdale Valley which boasts the highest mountain 'Scafell' the smallest church and deepest lake 'Wastwater'. Just a 15 minute walk along the road will bring you to a beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles. The majority of our guests enjoy walking or cycling in the area. There are a number of routes for all walking and cycling abilities from low level lanes and tracks to the higher level of mountain tracks. Maps for local routes can be obtained from us, if required.
