Thank you for such a lovely stay, you were so kind with us. I'm sorry we had to rush off without saying goodbye, but we had to get back on the road. You looked after us so well. Many thanks!

Lovely little apartment, stunning views overlooking the harbour. Very steep steps to access (like most accommodation in Polruan) so travel light.

Polmarine is a boathouse originally dating from the 18th Century, and is a small part of a large area of land containing several properties purchased from the Duchy of Cornwall by an eminent sea captain, who built a quay on the site. At the turn of the last century it came into possession of the Bunt family and was named Bunt's yard. Over recent years more small areas have been sold leaving, on the waters edge a large boathouse and land known as Polmarine. Several people have owned the boathouse and over the many years a great number of boats have been housed and repaired here. Even until the early 1980"s light work was carried out by the Pickering family who were the last to do so. John Barley has owned the property since 1989 and has helped make it into the unique property it is today. Within this property is an apartment rented on a self catering basis. The River View Suite is on the first floor of the property and has a balcony which enjoys the stunning views. Guests are able to use our conservatory on the ground floor and garden.
I help John to market, book and prepare the apartments for occupancy. We are lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world and enjoy sharing this space with people wanting to visit and explore the area. I also work as a support worker so when not at home I'm normally out and about supporting clients with learning disabilities. Photography is one of my interests and living here am spoilt for choice on all the varied opportunities. Sunrise and Sunsets being top amongst them.
Polruan is a unique picturesque village on the South Cornish coast, set on a steep hillside. It lies on the banks of the River Fowey and is the quieter of the two villages, from the top of St Saviours Hill car park you can look down to the harbour and across the river to Fowey or turn around and look out to sea. There are two pubs and two cafes in the village offering a variety of meals. Polruan is on the South West Coast Path as well accessible to beautiful scenic walks around the village, in particular the Hall Walk can be enjoyed along with the walk to Lantic Bay about an hour away. Polruan is a good place to base yourself for a visit to the Eden Centre, which is just 9.2 miles via the Bodinnick car ferry. There is a Polruan to Looe bus that goes via Polperro, many more bus routes from Fowey that are accessed via the passenger ferry across the river from Polruan, this runs every 15 minutes, until 9pm in the Summer and 7pm in the Winter, website C Tom's and Sons. From Fowey you can catch a bus to Par main line train station or continue on to St Austell and beyond. The car ferry at Bodinnick is approx 5 miles away. In the summer months a ferry runs to Mevagissey from Fowey
