Our host left a beautiful hamper containing oats, cake, Jams and local bread. They left us milk and eggs. Lovely touch to help us settle in and not Worry about going to the supermarket.

Neighbourhood information

Information correct at time of writing. Within a two-minute walk of Rexton House is The Swan where you can enjoy wonderful pub food and a drink. Just over a mile away is Llantwit Major Beach, one of several beaches readily accessible from Rexton House. The beach is a well-known for its tranquillity and beauty. Here you will see extraordinary rock formations which can be seen best from the headland walks which are part of the Wales Coast Path . The Path is the longest trail in Britain, ranging from Chester to Chepstow. This part is known as the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. It is well worth exploring the Path to the east and west of Llantwit Beach, and there are many opportunities to turn inland and return to Rexton House. If you appreciate local produce you might like to visit the Cowbridge Farmers’ Market held weekly on Saturdays. The local climate makes the area suitable for grape cultivation and Llanerch Vineyard Hotel and Glyndwr Vineyard, which welcome visitors. A 40 minute drive from Rexton House is Cardiff, Wales’ capital city which promises to delight with its vibrant streets and beautiful castle. On the way to Cardiff is Dyffryn Gardens, a National Trust property with stunning gardens. Llantwit Major is a 50 minute drive from Swansea with its lovely coastline and is a hive of activity. For petrol heads, Llandow Circuit offers race days for the grown-ups and go-karting for the young and old. In August, is the Vale of Glamorgan Show, an exhibition of animals, agricultural skills, local produce and much more – one of the best family days out. In October is the wonderful Cowbridge Music Festival which offers live music ranging from classical, to choral, to musical accompaniment of silent films, mostly presented in historic venues. For golf lovers there are several local golf courses, St Mary’s Golf Club and Cotterall Park are just two. If you would like to ride on a beach with views over the Severn Estuary you can drive 20 minutes...
