The house and grounds are a fantastic location for large families or groups of friends who appreciate the countryside outdoors but also like the home comforts. The house is spacious even with many people, as there are large communal rooms. The fact these are located around the property means there can be fun and games in one room at one side of the house and complete solitude in the other. The house has carefully restored features, as well as new tastefully complimentary designs too. The large communal family kitchen is the centre point of the house, with two more kitchens available if very large catering events are planned! Outside the gardens are like a park, with old oak, beech and walnut trees as well as spruce, pine and maple. A 22m x 14m natural pool has been newly installed with swimming area surrounded by water plants and flowers. There are two patios, one to the side and one in front of the conservatory, both with ample seating. There is also a balcony to the rear. This truly is a property inside and out with character, space and lovingly cared for. Take a look at the videos on Youtube called Meifod Wales and Wales Morning Mist by Roam With Us
We enjoy returning to Rhos-Y-Glascoed Isaf. We like the large stone built house with all it's character and charm, we like the extensive gardens, we love the views in every direction of the local countryside area. The property and gardens are ideal for large families and groups of friends who want to share some quality time together in a relaxing area either outside on the terrace, the two patio areas or gardens; or inside on colder nights with 4 wood stoves available to supplement the air source central heating and Aga. The house comes with all the equipment and home comforts required to meet any occasion. If you have any specific bedding requests please advise beforehand. For instance with the double beds and sofa beds we can provide two single duvets or one double duvet. Please note we charge for wood for the stoves indoor, the patio firepit and chiminea, and the wood burning sauna stove in the new outdoor sauna. We will ask you before arrival how many bags you wish to purchase.
Rhos-Y-Glascoed Isaf is a large 200+ year old traditional Welsh farmhouse, in an elevated position on the Welsh hills overlooking the Vyrnwy valley and near Powis Castle and Gardens. Owen Glyndwrs Way is close by for more serious walkers and there are many more leisurely walks through local unspoilt countryside. All views from this country house are across fields, woods and hills, but there are also delightful villages and historic towns to explore not too far away. Lake Vyrnwy is 20 minutes by car, and is great for gentle walks and bike rides through lovely scenery and a good restaurant too. The local village Meifod, has a good pub serving food, and a post office with basic amenities. There are a full range of supermarkets and shopping etc in Welshpool, around 14 miles distant, with Oswestry (16 miles) and Shrewsbury (25 miles) offering historic and other attractions. At night, the skies often clear of any cloud, and the night sky is truly beautiful, with thousands of stars and virtually zero light pollution.
