Ulverston is a typical, cobblestone market town offering a wonderful assortment of independently owned stores, cafés, and pubs that serve real ales and have open fireplaces. From upscale dining to traditional pub fare, there is a wide variety of restaurants to satisfy every taste. Ulverston is recognised for being a festival town, hosting activities like flag-waving and walking, as well as art and music festivals throughout the summer and the renowned Dickensian Christmas celebration in late November.
