Our Shepherds Hut is situated on our Sheep Farm & Trout Fishery in Tenterden, Kent, it set in an area of outstanding natural beauty where nature surrounds you and off grid. It has an amazing view up to the Church and overlooks our Fly Fishery. The Hut is very comfortable with heating, woodburner, kingsize bed, tables and chairs, free tea/coffee/crisps and water. It has an outdoor seating area where you can have a BBQ and campfire under the stars in your own private garden. The Lodge is a communal space with kitchen, dining, lounge, wc and shower. It is a great place to relax - it has its own balcony where you can watch the Kingfishers fly past. The Lodge is only a short distance from our Hut and shared with our Anglers. You can walk on our footpath (20 mins) from the Hut into Tenterden Town which is vibrant with its beautiful tree lined High Street, independent shops, cafes, pubs, restaurant and hotels. We are close to Chapel Down Vineyard for wine tours (10 mins by car), with its shop and restaurant and other vineyards are nearby to visit. We have many castles & gardens to visit - Leeds Castle and Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens are nearby. We have a Heritage Steam Railway where you can travel with a picnic from Tenterden to Bodium Castle and enjoy the beautiful Wealden countryside. We also have a stunning sandy beach at Camber Sands with sand dunes where you can watch the Kite Surfers and enjoy a swim in the sea. Rye is close to this beach too so you can enjoy walking around the cobbled streets and have fun in the local pubs and independent shops - its 1066 country so very old and quaint. We can offer you the experience of learning to fly fish at our Fishery, it is always fun to learn a new skill set. Our Instructor offers tuition for 1hr 30mins and we hire out rods/nets. You would need to book and pay for this in advance of your stay. You have access to our farm and the surroundings and parking is free, close to the Hut. A warm welcome awaits.
Coombe Farm is my childhood home, I was born and married here and I thoroughly enjoy running the farm and fishery with my family. I love all aspects of country life and I am delighted to share my favourite places in Kent & Sussex with my guests to give you the best experience whilst you stay with us. I look forward to meeting you. Gaynor
Tenterden is a very vibrant country town with great amenities there is a Waitrose & Tescos for shopping, Boots, Post Office and Banks. It has its own Brewery - Old Dairy - with its Tap Room which has a great vibe with its live music and Street Food Vans. Chapel Down, Gusbourne and Biddenden Vineyards are very close by for Wine Tours. Tenterden has a Heritage Steam Railway where you can travel to Bodium Castle and enjoy the grounds there with a picnic. We have many castles and gardens to explore the nearest being Leeds Castle and Sissinghurst Castle, Pashley Manor Gardens at Ticehurst. There are plenty of enjoyable walks from the Hut and you can hire bikes locally if you want to explore further afield. Tenterden has an abundance of pubs and restaurants to choose from and I can always give you some recommendations. We have a great local Farm Shop at Silcocks Farm where you can buy local produce, 5 mins by car or you can walk. It also has a super cafe for light lunch, tea etc. Ashford Retail Outlet is close by for retail therapy - it has parking on site and something for everyone. Transport is easy by train to Headcorn or Ashford International Stations and buses run from both to Tenterden. A car is recommended to explore the area but not essential. We have free parking at our home. Your vehicle is safe to leave here (but you do so at your own risk) and you can forget about it whilst you stay with us and walk from the Hut and enjoy everything on our doorstep.
