A cosy, luxurious escape in the Lake District. Pheasant Lodge sleeps 6 and is ideal for families and friends, with spacious bedrooms, soft bedding, deep sofas, a log fire and sweeping garden views. Cook in the fully equipped kitchen, enjoy the games cupboard or simply relax. The lodge has private parking and is just 2 miles from Cartmel’s dining, racecourse and walks, with lakes close by for exploring. This refurbished Georgian home blends period charm with modern comfort. High ceilings, parquet floors and large windows overlook the gardens and valley. Inside are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a lounge with sofas, Sky TV, Netflix and a book library. The dining room seats six and has a games cupboard, while the kitchen includes an American fridge-freezer and garden-view nook. A boot room with washer, dryer, drying rack and spare wellies is ideal after a day outdoors. Three private gardens offer space to dine or unwind. The lodge feels tucked away yet is only 2 miles from Cartmel village, home to Michelin-starred restaurants, welcoming pubs, the Priory and the racecourse. Windermere, Coniston, Hampsfell and High Dam are close by, making this a perfect base for both adventure and relaxation. What guests love: • Sleeps 6: super king bedroom, twin/double bedroom, sofa bed on request • Lounge with log fire, Sky TV, Netflix and library • Dining room with parquet floor and games cupboard • Kitchen with American fridge-freezer and garden-view nook • Bathroom with bath and shower • Boot room with washer, dryer, drying rack, wellies and extra WC • Three private gardens with outdoor seating and picnic table • Ground-floor layout; parking for 3 cars at the door • Family-friendly: toys, books, kids’ cutlery, high chair and cot • Eco touches: solar panels, eco soaps and recycling facilities • 2 miles from Cartmel’s dining, Priory and racecourse • Close to Windermere, Coniston, heritage houses and local walks IG: thepheasantlodge
Have loved seeing the world and discovering new places with my family - now excited and happy to be letting our first holiday cottage in the Lake District National Park. As a family of 3 small children we love staying in the spacious house, with gardens surrounding. There is a huge toy cupboard for children to enjoy, plus netflix and sky for any colder days. Locally you're provided with the most breathtaking attractions - something to suit all ages. So whether you want to hike, enjoy watersports or just picnic by the Lake - we have the stay for you. We've also stayed with friends for adult only time, have visited Cartmel races, enjoyed walks and wild swims around the Lake District and dined at some of the best restaurants in the country such as L'enclume, Heft and Rogans. You're really spoilt for choice. I have put together a brilliant welcome book packed full of fun ideas for local activities, so whether you want to be active or just enjoy the relaxation of the area - there is something for everyone. You can call, email or text me if you need me throughout your stay. I am usually in the area and if not I have family close too, so if it is urgent you can let me know. We've had so many happy guests at Pheasant Lodge and love to hear about what they've been up to. So please do tag us on IG @thepheasantlodge and tell us how you made the most of your time. You can also find lots more ideas there and find out a little about us. Have the best stay and make memories that will last a lifetime. Hannah and family.
Field Broughton is a peaceful hamlet in the Cartmel Valley, part of the Lake District National Park. Quiet and rural, yet close to many favourite attractions, it makes the perfect base. At the southern tip of Lake Windermere, a short drive away, guests can enjoy boat rides, paddleboarding, wild swimming or relaxing by the water. Ferries link Lakeside with Bowness and Ambleside, where you can visit Wray Castle, Brockhole and local cafés and shops. Cartmel, just 2 miles away, is one of the prettiest villages in the northwest and a true foodie destination. The Lake District now has more Michelin stars than anywhere in the UK outside London, with Cartmel at its heart. Highlights include Simon Rogan’s world-famous L’Enclume, Rogan & Co and, nearby, Heft. Alongside fine dining you’ll find welcoming pubs such as The Cavendish, artisan shops and the Sticky Toffee Pudding shop. The 12th-century Cartmel Priory is a striking landmark, and Cartmel Racecourse hosts nine meetings a year, when the village comes alive with colour. The wider area offers endless ways to get outdoors. Local walks include Hampsfell, with views over Morecambe Bay, plus Gummers How and High Dam. For more challenging routes, the Wainwright peaks are within reach. Coniston and Windermere are ideal for swimming, sailing and water sports, while smaller tarns provide peaceful escapes. Grange-over-Sands, a short drive from the lodge, has shops, supermarkets, cafés and the renowned Higginsons butchers. Its long promenade is perfect for a seaside stroll with views across the bay. You can also explore historic houses and gardens such as Holker Hall, Levens Hall, Blackwell and Sizergh Castle. Families will enjoy nearby attractions including the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Millerbeck miniature railway. Pheasant Lodge’s location combines the peace of a hamlet with easy access to lakes, fells, history and one of the UK’s most exciting food scenes.
