Stalker's Lodge is a new architect designed holiday house, featuring a fabulous glass-fronted extension with glorious views across the rolling fields and glen. The ground floor is semi-open plan with generous living space. White walls and oak flooring combine with contemporary designer fabrics and furniture for a modern but comfortable feel. There is a sleek luxurious kitchen with high quality Neff appliances, stone worktops and seating around the island hob – perfect for convivial cooking. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining/ sitting room has an extending dining table that can sit up to 10 comfortably. A large corner sofa is the perfect spot to relax in front of the TV. The double height extension features a huge corner window so you can sit back and soak up the view down Strathardle glen and watch cute red squirrels on our feeders// Sliding doors open to the deck out front and to the patio at the rear where there is a table and chairs for outdoor eating as well as a charcoal barbeque and a chiminea. The all important boot room provides plenty of space for outdoor gear and dog beds (up to two well-behaved dogs welcome). The garden is securely fenced and has a playframe for children. There's also a games room with pool table, table tennis and darts (the games room is shared with Keeper's Cottage). The house is beautifully warm at all times of year and eco friendly too, thanks to the biomass boiler which runs off waste timber from the estate. You'll find crisp cotton sheets on the comfortable Hypnos beds, snug feather duvets, fluffy towels, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and handmade organic soap, shower gel and shampoo from The Highland Soap Company.
I was brought up at Straloch and now live here full time with my family, plus Freda and Fink, our two black labradors, and Smudge the Border Terrier. Not to mention Rita and Toffee, our re-homed donkeys and several pet sheep. I never tire of the beautiful scenery at Straloch, whatever the weather or season, and I love the wildlife which is all around, especially the birds and red squirrels. I am into bird song and can recognise most of our resident and visiting birds just by listening. I am happy to share this knowledge with anyone who's interested!. I'm also on had to advise about things to do on the estate or locally. Basically my aim as host is that you have a wonderful experience and go home with lots of memories to cherish.
Straloch is a small, family run estate in Highland Perthshire. We love welcoming guests (plus well behaved dogs) and always do our utmost to ensure you have a superb holiday experience, from bespoke picnics and wildlife watching, to stylish interiors and ludicrously comfortable beds. We're delighted to have received over 300 5* reviews since we opened our doors for business back in 2015. Those fine folk at VisitScotland even awarded us “Best Self Catering Holiday Accommodation Experience 2020” for the region. Tucked up one of Perthshire's prettiest glens, Straloch is located on the southern fringe of the Cairngorms National Park, right in the heart of Scotland. Set against the dramatic backdrop of a steep rocky ridge with a tranquil loch in front, the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. To the north there are miles of rugged heather hills and mountains to escape to and to the south the gently rolling pastures and wooded hills of Strathardle glen. And with 3,000 acres to discover, it's a nature lover's paradise. Straloch is a hidden gem for families with children. Enjoy outdoor adventures like den building in the Millennium Wood, collecting eggs from the hen house in the Walled Garden or rowing across to the island for a campfire tea. Both gardens have play frames and the quiet estate road is safe for children to cycle up and down.
