The Cottage A stunning cottage steeped in history, filled with character and sophisticated style. Arrive ready to relax with your loved ones, or experience something altogether unique. Situated on a working farm in the glorious Eden Valley, surrounded by dramatic moorland. This Yorkshire Dales based property offers something a little different. Should you choose, experience real working life on a hill farm. Head out amongst the incredible panoramic views of the moors. Learn to lamb a sheep, train a sheep dog, blow dry a pedigree cow or even learn the craft of dry stone walling! Life on a farm is hard work, unpredictable and exciting and this experience aims to demonstrate all of that. Of course, you may just fall in love with The Cottage and want to just enjoy its many charms. And that’s fine too! Explore the local area to your heart’s content and return at the end of the day weary but very welcome in your cosy holiday home. the Reconnect with nature with a stay at our cottage " Stay Lambing Live"
Making a holiday a special time whether it's for a couple,a family or friends reunion, we do our upmost to make your say with us as memorable as possible. For those who come down to the farm to meet the animals and see and talk about what we do, this is a real passion of our whole family "The Marston's" and also a real privilege to be able to do this and help people connect back with nature. Outside of farming life I love running and walking in the local area, it's great for clearing your head and putting things into perspective. We have 3 girls, Catherine 23, who works a t home on the farm, Abigail 20 who recently returned from Australia and Olivia 14 who's just a typical teenager. We don't really have time off from the farm as life can get pretty hectic throughout the year, but if we do manage a few hours off we would he a little drive around, grab some fish and chips and eat them admiring a local view or watch the sunset as they are pretty spectacular here.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stay at The Cottage is all about the outdoors! Reconnect with nature and explore the local area. Take a gentle stroll along the River Eden. Or for the more adventurous explorers, climb up Wild Boar Fell.Situated just 10 miles east of the Lake District and within the Western Dales the cottage is a perfect location to explore both. Water sports and Wainwrights in the lakes or James Herriot & quaint little villages in the Dales. Further afield there's Lowther and Raby Castle with plenty to do for the children, great outdoor space and playareas. A trip to the local award winning bistro pub "The Black Swan" is a must with fresh local produce always on the menu. Once you have stayed in this area you will never want to leave.
