Location is so peaceful and quite. Decking overlooks a field with several horses, and there's lots of rabbits to watch hopping around too. The carriage/lodge is beautiful and has everything you need. I will definitely be a frequent visitor.

Ted's Shed is a novel holiday accommodation set in the beautiful village of Escomb in the Wear Valley of County Durham. It started life as a railway goods van and has a colourful history. It was lovingly restored and converted in 2022-23 and now sits in it's own paddock overlooking the Wear Valley and adjacent to the historic Weardale Railway. It is a compact but beautiful space - perfect for those who love being in the countryside and enjoy walking. It is a perfect spot to explore the local area and beyond. There is a double sofa bed. Comfortable but not suitable for those excessively tall. We welcome two dogs who will enjoy the secure paddock setting and lovely walks nearby. Please bring dog bowls and throws for the furniture plus your dog's favourite bed. An outside tap allows dogs to be washed before entering the property.
Nick and Christine enjoy welcoming guests to their barn loft conversion, also on the farm. Nick has lovingly restored Ted' Shed and hopes that people will enjoy the peaceful location and views it offers.
Ted's Shed is perfect for guests wishing to explore Weardale, Teesdale and the lovely market towns and Castles in the area. Durham City and Barnard Castle are also very popular with visitors. For dog owners and walkers, there is an abundance of lovely walks and dog friendly pubs. Nearby Hamsterley Forest is perfect for bikers and walkers. The annual summer Kynren Shows are extremely popular, attracting visitors from all over the country. Ted's Shed is also a good place to explore the coast, Northern England, Cumbria and the Lake District. The village of Escomb is an Anglo Saxon Settlement. The name means "Village under the hill." It has a beautiful Saxon Church to explore and a pub named the Saxon Inn. We highly recommend the Pollards Inn for food ( pre book) , Raby Castle, Witton Castle, the Thai Restaurant in Bishop Auckland Market place and Auckland Castle Kitchen. The Cross Keys at Hamsterley is dog friendly and serves lovely meals.
