Property information

The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the barns and cottages of the 17th century still remain today. Additions were made to the front of the property in the early 1700’s and the house has had very little change other than modern decoration and comforts. Many of the original features including the spiral staircase; moulded ceilings and fireplaces remain. These add character to the property. The Beacons Guesthouse is spread over three floors, with facilities to meet the needs of each individual guest. The Guesthouse is set in the market town of Brecon, which is situate in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.

Neighbourhood information

The town of Brecon lies north of the Brecon Beacons mountain range, however it sits within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Brecon is one of the three largest towns in the county of Powys. As you walk around the town, if you look hard there are many traces of the old town walls still to be found, and many fine Georgian houses and shopfronts to be seen. The Town has an impressive Cathedral, and on a clear day there are magnificent views of the Beacons, and Pen Y Fan, the highest point in southern Britain. Brecon is home to two military establishments being, firstly, Dering Lines which is home of the Infantry Battle School where the training for the infantry officers and other ranks takes place. Secondly, The Barracks which is the 160th (Wales) Brigade. Brecon is also the base for the Gurkha Mandalay. Brecon is also home to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal which runs for approximately thirty-five miles between Brecon and Pontnewydd and Cwmbran. The canal side was renovated in the 1990s and is now the home to two mooring basins and Theatre Brycheiniog.
