Company information

Victorian property with traditional features which has been renovated to a high standard to bring a modern feel. We are a family run hotel and have been here since 2020, having made a lot of improvements to the hotel which are ongoing . Calder House was once a Girls School with up to 200 girls learning here, closing as a school in 1968 and becoming a boarding house. Whilst here you can enjoy Darts, pool, sky and TNT sports and our snooker room . We have a fabulous Beer garden overlooking the Irish Sea and the Isle of Man on a clear day. We are praised for our family feel, warm welcome and helpful staff .

On the Cumbrian coast, Calder House provides bed and breakfast accommodation overlooking Seascale beach. Around 10 minutes’ drive from the Lake District national park This hotel has a newly renovated bar and restaurant with sea views, free parking and Wi-Fi. Each room has a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee facilities. All rooms are en suite with shower facilities, there are a few rooms with a bath in addition to shower. A full English breakfast is served each morning with a pot of fresh coffee or tea. The bar and restaurant enjoys stunning coastal views, and serves a menu including all your pub favourites. Seascale is a very quiet village on the coast with views to the Isle of Man and the Irish Sea. If is busy and bustling you are after then Seascale is not for you however if its peace and quiet with beautiful coastal walks then Seascale is perfect. There are other bars and Restaurants in Gosforth a short drive up the road Seascale provides fine scenery for walkers and cyclists and is around 10 miles from the Wasdale Valley and Wast water Lake by Scafell Pike. Coniston Water , Lake Windermere , Kendal are around 1 hour’s drive from the hotel. Family run hotel

A beautiful seafront 18 bedroom hotel located just outside the lake district national park. Perfect for a break away from the city, for walking, cycling, relaxing. Our village is very quiet on a beautiful beach coast so lots of walking and fresh air off the Irish sea. perfect location for getting into the National Park. If its peace and quiet you are looking for then we are the place to come. The village has a convenience store , post office ,chemist, hard wear store, 2 take away restaurant's and an ice cream parlour and cafe. There is an 18 hole golf course within walking distance of the hotel which is highly rated. Seascale train station is at the end of the garden which is perfect for getting to Whitehaven, Workington or Carlisle where you can carry on to Scotland , the trains go past the garden hourly through the day but stop at 8.30/ 9.00 pm for the night. Raven glass is a short train journey away where you can get the Ratty steam train up to the Wasdale valley and to Stanley Gill waterfall or to Muncaster Castle to visit the gardens and watch the Birds of Prey show
