It was a lovely property, very private and in lovely surroundings. It had pretty much everything we needed and it had a lovely light, airy feel. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff we spoke to were lovely and very helpful.

Company information

Built in 1325 Samlesbury Hall is a unique and exciting visitor attraction. The Hall and its extensive grounds is open to the public and is free to visit (please check our website for opening times). In the early 1920s the Hall was ready to be demolished, and a housing estate built on the site. Six Blackburn businessmen bought the Hall to save the ancient building. These gentlemen started the Samlesbury Hall Trust in 1925. The Samlesbury Hall Trust began in 1925, in order to maintain and keep the Hall open for the visitors. Today's Hall offers a diverse and interesting visit, of course there is plenty of history with free tours taking place on a Sunday. We also have a wafflery, offering not only homemade waffles and sweet treats but ice-cream, traditional pick and mix sweets or simply just a coffee to be enjoyed in the beautiful court yard. We have our newly refurbished Herritage cafe where guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea followed by a lovely stroll in our manicured grounds. Nestled in the woods is our brilliant playground. You can climb in through the windows of the miniature Samlesbury Hall replica & climb the rope bridge to the Mayflower ship! There is also a charming wooden trail; with bridges, swings and lots of fun obstacles for the whole family to enjoy – a challenge for adults as well as children! The playground is completely free for all to use when the Hall is open to the public, along with free parking and entry to the Hall. As a registered charity any pennies you spend go straight back into the Hall, to keep it open for all to enjoy.

Recently refurbished to the highest of standards, with the latest smart frame HD TV with Prime, Nespresso and Alexa to keep you company, a luxurious night’s stay is a certainty. Neighbourhood information

The Gatehouse at Samlesbury Hall is close to the M6 and is a fantastic location for an overnight stay or short break away. In the grounds of the historic 700 year old Hall fabulous half-timbered black and white medieval house built in 1325 as a family home, the Hall is beautifully maintained for the enjoyment of today's visitor. The Hall is open to the public every day, except Mondays, Saturdays and occasional Fridays, when it is closed for weddings. On this site today, you will discover an ancient, magnificently preserved manor house and gardens, with a colourful history and a wide-ranging programme of year-round events and activities. Based on the edge of the Ribble Valley we are perfectly located for exploring the amazing country side. Being only 37km form Blackpool you can discover the seaside town's many attractions including the famous Blackpool Tower during your stay with us. We are also stones throw from Preston City centre with numerous shopping locations and not forgetting the guild wheel walking and Cycle paths along the river Ribble or Brockholes Nature reserve, our location is perfect to explore what Lancashire and the Fylde has to offer.
