With shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants, and takeaways right on your doorstep, you’re perfectly positioned whether you’re in the mood for a family meal, a relaxed drink, or an evening of live entertainment. Tucked away at the end of a quiet alley and accessed via an external flight of stone steps, this charming retreat offers a peaceful hideaway while still being directly opposite the bus station—making it easy to explore Cumbria and beyond. Inside, The Loft is thoughtfully furnished to create a warm, homely atmosphere. A spacious entrance hall provides ample storage for walking boots, coats, or bikes, leading into a bright and comfortable open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining space. Sink into the comfy seating and enjoy your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or stream the latest Netflix release. The dining table is ideal for lingering over meals or planning the day’s adventures with a morning coffee. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and dishwasher—everything you need for a stress-free stay. Upstairs, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms: one with a king-size bed and the other with a single bed. The family bathroom features a shower over the bath, hand basin, and WC. All electricity, bed linen, and towels are provided, with a cot and highchair available on request. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please note that access is via an external stone staircase, which may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility, and there is no private parking. Penrith operates a disc parking scheme during the day, with a car park conveniently located opposite. Guests also share a courtyard with neighbouring Woodman’s Cottage, complete with table and chairs for al fresco dining or relaxed afternoons in the fresh Cumbrian air.

Penrith sits in the picturesque Eden Valley, surrounded by rolling countryside that’s perfect for leisurely walks and scenic cycling routes, often ending at cosy village pubs serving local ales and hearty food. T he bustling market town of Keswick is just a 30-minute drive along the A66, while the serene waters of Ullswater are a mere 15 minutes away. From there, the breathtaking Kirkstone Pass offers a memorable route to Ambleside and Windermere. The historic city of Carlisle—with its impressive castle, cathedral, and array of shops—is also just half an hour’s drive. Thanks to its excellent connections via the M6 and A66, Penrith is an ideal base for exploring the very best of Cumbria.
