Property information

The house stands on the banks of the river Till. You have to cross a foot bridge to reach the front door. The old part of the house dates back to 1785, when the miller Thomas Miles built it for his man. He would have crossed the river through the mill, which was moved upstream 200 yards in about 1815, and became a much larger grinding mill. My grandmother built the footbridge when we came to live here in 1960. Prior to that we lived at Berwick House. My grandfather owned the farm here. The house is comfortable and modernised, and full of pictures and memories. Some liken it to a museum! The house and meadow, which is under Countryside Stewardship, is all that is left of the 1500 acre farm in our possession. About 13 acres. Many birds live here, as well as I!
