The Local Area This property is conveniently located just a few minutes off the A48 in Carmarthenshire, which is so accessible from the M4, and a fantastic base to the rest of West Wales. Its set in a beautiful rural setting, yet a short drive to many great amenities, with the small village of Llanddarog, just 1 mile away with a shop, Post Office and two village pubs, The Butchers Arms and The White Hart. Also located within a mile is the award-winning restaurant, listed in the Michelin guide, “Y Polyn.” In addition, The National Botanic Gardens of Wales, also housing a Bird of Prey Centre, is within walking distance (1.5 miles) and well worth a visit. All parts of West Wales are accessible from The Old School House, the amazing beaches and country park at Cefn Sidan (Pembrey); the hidden gem that is Llansteffan Castle and beach; Pendine Sands – 7 miles of sandy beach used in 1924 to set a world land speed record; Tenby, an ancient walled town and adjacent island of Caldey; the smallest city in the UK, St. Davids, with its mighty cathedral; the beautiful market town of Llandeilo with its stunning surrounding landscape including Dinefwr Park and Castle, and of course the Brecon Beacons. The ancient town of Carmarthen, birthplace of Merlin and the oldest town in Wales, lying on the River Towy is just 7 miles away, and has many local independent shops, bars, restaurants, and an indoor market. The town has a Roman Amphitheatre, castle, and a museum in the old Bishop’s Palace. For the younger guests there is also Folly Farm, the Dinosaur Park in St Florence, Heatherton, Anna’s Welsh Zoo to name a few. As well as many indoor play centres, a climbing wall, Velodrome, cinema, and Bowling Alley can also be found in Carmarthen.
