Quirky little place, fire was on on arrival and great kitchen facilities. Good parking even in wet weather.

The Patch is a comfortable, informal holiday home created around a Victorian railway carriage! Although we can sleep up to 8 at a push, it's cosy enough for just one or two people to stay, with plenty of space to enjoy. We get lots of couples and smaller groups, but we're popular with families with young children in the school holidays. We also accept dogs by arrangement. The railway carriage was the first 'building' on the site in the late 1920s, and the rest of the house has grown up around it. The carriage provides two bedrooms - one twin and one with bunks, and also the shower room/toilet. The main bedroom is upstairs, and the other upstairs bedroom has a single bed. The Patch is available all year round, and has a woodburner as the main source of heating. It has a large private, secure garden, front and back, and offroad parking. It's a few minutes walk from a lake and a quiet, undeveloped beach. Wildlife enthusiasts will be glad to know that Wild Ken Hill of BBC TV's flagship Watch series and the RSPB Snettisham reserve are close by. Far from crowds, traffic and street lights, we offer peace and tranquility, dark nights and quiet days, amazing sunsets and glowing dawns.
Perfect for those who love being in wild places, close to the coast, and far from streetlights and busy roads, The Patch is part of an eccentric community of private chalets, bungalows and static caravans. There is endless space for children (and dogs) to run and play, and experience a natural environment unlike anywhere most children - and adults, come to that, are familiar with. Accessed via a rough track running alongside a lake, The Patch is just a few minutes walk to the wild, undeveloped Snettisham Beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach for most of the year. Snettisham Village is a couple of miles inland. It's about half an hour's walk to the internationally important RSPB Snettisham bird and wildlife reserve, centred on the mighty, muddy wilderness of The Wash. It's the gathering place for immense flocks of wild seabirds - geese and knots in particular, which create the awe-inspiring 'Snettisham Spectaculars' and 'Whirling Waders' displays at certain times of the year. Further afield there are many places of interest, history and beauty within a few miles. Snettisham Farm Park, Wild Ken Hill, Sandringham - the Royal Family's own 'holiday home', Castle Rising, and many more!
