I never write reviews unless, it’s something above and beyond. This is a small slice of heaven, and I guess I was the lucky one to have the opportunity to stay for 4 nights. The location is really central to the town and all amenities. It has...

Well decorated and equipped cottage. Location excellent. Car pass well compensates for lack of parking at the property. Short walk to the main street and Bowes Museum.

Neighbourhood information

Barnard Castle is a market town in County Durham, set amid the unspoiled scenery of Teesdale. It is built on the site of an ancient Roman fort that had stood on the other side of the river. The castle's ancient remnants still rise over the river and are well worth seeing. Residents and visitors alike refer to the town as 'Barney,' because of its cobblestone streets, yards, and back roads, which were first set up in the 12th century. The neighbouring Bowes Museum is definitely worth a visit and a great way to spend a day roaming about this lovely building and taking in the fascinating exhibits.
