Beautiful location, great views from the garden. Nicely equipped bar rooms with lots of local pictures, but still not tto posh and has a dartboard and pool table. Very friendly helpful staff. Nice evening meal and excellent breakfast.

The location with views of Corfe Castle is wonderful. We have stayed here before and were rather disappointed by the early evening bar closure but this has now changed and we were able to drink outside enjoying the evening until after 10.30pm. The...

What a gem of a hotel. The staff were very friendly, and helpful. We were out too early to have breakfast so they left us a tray each morning. Beautiful open fires on a very cold weekend. Good sized bedroom.

The room was lovely and spacious, the property itself was steeped in history which was fantastic. The breakfast was amazing! The village was really pretty, and we loved the view of Corfe Castle.

Great view from the lower bar / dining area. Friendly staff. Depending on your point of view the property could be described as old and full of character or old and a bit scruffy. We have the 'full of character' viewpoint

Dancing Ledge is found on the coast near Langton Matravers. It is an old cliff quarry and has stunning views of the coast. There are some great walks starting from the pub. Going in all directions! (Take a map and walking boots, especially if its been raining!) A great half day walk is to go to Swyre Head, go along the ridge to Kimmeridge, stop off for refreshment at Clavells and return along the Cliff path to Kingston. A 1 ½ hour walk is to take the path to Houns Tout found 100 metres past the church on West street, on the left, walk through the woods and then out onto the Encombe bowl. Stunning views all around to Kimmeridge and Isle of Portland and usually very quiet. Once you hit the Cliff path turn East down lots of steps and look for the tarmac lane heading back up to Kingston past a lone cottage. To extend this walk keep following coast path East to St Aldhams Head or Worth Matravers. Or keep going to Swanage! And bus/taxi back to Kingston or Steam train when in season to Corfe and hike back up to pub! Other attractions close by. Bovington Tank museum (good if its raining!) Monkey World Putlake Farm (good soft play for kids)

What makes the Scott Arms so special is its unique setting in a picturesque village, high up on the Purbeck hills overlooking Corfe Castle. It is a beautiful spot in which to base yourself exploring the unique area of Purbeck. Once you have discovered this hidden gem you are bound to return especially after staying in our comfortable bedrooms enjoying fabulous pub food, great beer, cider, wine and spirits looked after by our friendly staff .

Neighborhood info

The area is the eastern gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site – walk along the South West Coast Path and pass Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Fancy a day at the beach? Enjoy Swanage’s Blue Flag sandy beach or the more rugged 4 mile stretch of sand at Studland Nauture Reserve. If nature is more your thing, Durlston Country Park is a perfect place to discover the area’s rich wildlife, as is Brownsea Island, Arne RSPB reserve and Wareham Forest. Kingston, Worth Matravers and Langton Matravers are found south of Corfe Castle. The area is very popular for walking and a number of our walking trails pass through or near these villages. The 'Smugglers Ways' begins at Worth Matravers and then travels down to the coast path and back again to visit where smugglers were known to bring their goods ashore. The 'Commoners Ways' starts at Kingston travelling south to Corfe Castle and back again. Another walking route is the Purbeck Way, of which part travels from Corfe Castle, past Kingston and ends at Chapman's Pool just outside Worth Matravers. If you are looking for a refeshment stop, try the infamous Worth Matravers village pub the Square and Compass.
