Quite location but not too far from Torphins or Banchory. Had everything you would need for a break.

The Creamery started out its life as a working Creamery in 2005. The former owners of South Lodge and The Creamery constructed this award-winning building to house their own cheese business, Craigmyle Cheese, and then when they decided to close their business it was temporary home to the Cambus O’May Cheese (suppliers to Balmoral) which their own premises were being built. I bought the house Creamery in 2012, working from there and renting out the space for holistic and creative events and treatments. There have been many good times had in the building over the years, including the annual hosting of artists for North East Open Studios, where artists across the region collaborate to display their work and hold demonstrations. The space you will be staying in contains a large bedroom with a kingsize bed (incredibly comfy!), ensuite bathroom, open plan living/kitchen, and a utility room. The building is also home to my studio. We are dog friendly and there is a lovely big courtyard which catches the sun and is a private spot for morning coffee and evening meals. There are easy dog walks direct from the door and a 15 minute walk into the village of Torphins.
Hi, I am Leonie and I am the host of the Space at the Creamery. I live over the road from the Creamery, with my daughter and our two small dogs. We have lived here for nearly 14 years, my father is from Aberdeenshire and retired here and we moved here from Brighton when my daughter reached primary age to be closer to family. Prior to that I have lived in Brighton, London, Brussels, Kenya, the Netherlands and was born in the West Indies. I converted the Creamery to a holiday let in 2016, having previously worked from there and held holistic and creative events in the space. I am an artist and my studio is at the other end of the building from the guest accommodation. I love hosting the Creamery and the chance to meet new people and introduce them to our beautiful part of the world. Feel free to ask any questions to decide whether this is the right place for you and I hope you decide to come and spend some time in this stunning part of the world.
The Creamery is situated in a small hamlet in a rural location outside Torphins. It is on a hillside and so has lovely views across the valley. It is 40 minutes drive to the centre of Aberdeen and to Aberdeen airport. The nearest towns are Banchory and Aboyne, both about 15 minutes drive. The small village of Kincardine O’Neil is just 10 minutes that has a charming village shop and post office, a coffee/icecream shop and a fascinating shop called Treasures which sells a plethora of jewellery, crystals, fossils and bits and pieces and Deeside Antiques Emporium which featured on Antiques Road Trip! My friend Laura Lane also has her cake shop and I can put you in touch with her if you have something to celebrate. There is also a Thai takeaway. Set in rural Deeside and on the borders of the Cairngorms National Park, Torphins is a sociable village. On the face of it there appears not to be much going on but the school is a popular and well-run and there are lots of families in the village as a result. It is also a popular commuter village for Aberdeen. There is a park with children’s play area, a popular church and village hall which holds a number of local events. There is a Scotmid shop in the village centre, a pharmacy, a popular charity shop and hairdresser, beauty salon as well as a Chinese takeaway and a pub/Indian restaurant/takeaway. Platform 22 in the centre of the village is a lovely take-away café and wholefood store with fresh produce and a farmers market on a Wednesday. Aberdeen is a 30 minute drive away with its shops, entertainment and beach. We are just a few minutes drive from the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, Ballater and Braemar (with the fabulous art hotel the Fife Arms) with all they have to offer - walking, fishing, skiing, wild swimming, nature in abundance. In the other direction we are within half an hour of the coast and the unspoilt beaches of the North East.
