Try Adar (which means House of Birds) at Graig Wen has a fabulous rural location with direct access through our fields to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary and Trail. The house is cosy with a woodburning stove and two large sofas for lounging after a day's adventures. Parking outside is easy and dogs are welcome with so many walks from the door. There's 45 acres of wild woods, fields and streams to explore and huge sandy beaches a couple of miles down the road. Being in Snowdonia National Park, the area is unspoilt and still quite a well kept secret. There is a good pub within 10 minutes drive, or you can walk there along the Mawddach Trail in about an hour and a half. We are in the Snowdonia Dark Skies Reserve so the night skies here are awesome. You can enjoy some star-gazing round the camp fire in our woods. Logs available to buy on site. The house is decorated with cosy colours, Welsh blankets and artworks. There are two bedrooms, one of which has a double bed, The other can be set up with 2 single beds or one supering sized bed. The kitchen has a cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine. The modern bathroom has a shower over the bath. The spacious lounge has a woodburning stove and large TV. There is also wifi.
Graig Wen has been our home and business for 16 years. Our award-winning holiday accommodation including a camping and glamping site has won two North Wales Tourism Awards and we have been featured in national media as recommended place to stay. We are proud that we have many fantastic reviews of our accommodation, location, standard of cleanliness and welcome. We love to welcome back our many repeat guests and the friends and family they recommend. John and Sarah packed up their lives in Brighton in 2006 and left town with their dogs in an old motorhome. We discovered Graig Wen after a year on the open road – we had found the wild escape of our dreams. We feel incredibly privileged to call Snowdonia home. It’s our pleasure to share it with others.
Our self-catering accommodation in Snowdonia National Park, near Dolgellau, North Wales includes four holiday lets overlooking the beautiful Mawdach Estuary. Our location has been featured on BBC Country file and Julia Bradbury's Railway Walks show. Set in 45 acres of land, the adjacent properties share the same massive Welsh slate roof of this former Victorian slate cutting shed. The four properties adjoin our small camp site, as featured in Cool Camping. You can explore Graig Wen's beautiful woods and meadows with footpaths direct from the site. With the spectacular (and family friendly) Mawddach cycle trail at the bottom of our track, and Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre you'll probably want to bring your bike. Huge, empty sandy beaches within 5 minutes drive and Harlech Castle, Portmeirion, Yr Wyddfa/ Snowdon within 45 minutes. Nearby there's horse riding on the beach, fishing, golf, and wonderful wildlife. Our accommodation in Snowdonia National Park is at the heart of adventure activities and historic attractions for active visitors. You can go on long walks in Snowdonia national park wales, horse-riding on sandy beaches, mountain biking at Coed-y Brenin, whitewater rafting, or try Zip World adventures at slate quarries. Right here between Barmouth and Dolgellau on the Mawddach Estuary there is so much to see and do on our doorstep. Here’s a few of our top tips for local days out: Cycle or walk the flat water-side Mawddach Trail to the George III pub, Fairbourne’s and Barmouth’s blue flag beaches, shops and steam railway. Stroll over Barmouth’s iconic bridge for crabbing on the quay, fish and chips, ice cream and bargain-hunting. Catch Emily’s ferry back to Fairbourne. Climb up Arthog waterfalls and on up to Cadair Idris mountain. You will find loads of tips for our favourite places to visit, shop, eat and drink in the Guest Welcome Guide which is emailed to you when you book
