Property information

Centrally located within the ever popular village of West Lulworth and within a short stroll of the iconic Lulworth Cove, Avocet House is the perfect base for exploring the Jurassic Coast and South Dorset.

Neighbourhood information

Information correct at the time of writing. Avocet House is perfectly located for families or friends who wish to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area and the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, with the famous Lulworth Cove just a six-minute walk away. The cove is ideal for water sports in general with paddle boarding in particular, and boat trips are available from the cove to Wareham. Fishing boats still operate from the cove with fresh seafood available to purchase locally. West Lulworth has its own village stores, and local restaurants, pubs, cafes, and souvenir shops, all within a short stroll from the property. A visit to nearby Lulworth Castle and park is to be recommended and within walking distance. The iconic Durdle Door and the coast path to access it starts from the village, and the wider Jurassic Coastline is home to over 300 coastal country walks, offering some breathtaking views over Dorset’s 200 million year old shoreline. The nearby village of Wool is a sizeable village on the River Frome, in the Purbeck area of South Dorset. It has its own village store, pharmacy, a bakery and a butchers shop. There is excellent fishing on the River Frome as well as various golf courses, bridleways, cycling and riding routes. Kimmeridge Bay lies within a marine Special Area of Conservation and boasts the best rock pooling and safest snorkelling site in Dorset. Nearby Tyneham Village was evacuated in December 1943 during WWII and has been deserted ever since and you can see some of the original buildings and read about what village life used to be like. Spend a day at Ringstead where you can take a walk across the cliff tops, bring a kite or pack a picnic to enjoy on the beach. Situated in the heart of Thomas Hardy country, Lawrence of Arabia's cottage Clouds Hill, TheTank Museum and Monkey World are within easy reach. There are numerous other highlights within the local area, such as Corfe Castle, Swanage Bay, the Swanage Steam...
