Our apartment is above The Wheatsheaf Inn which is in the village of Abbeytown. We just acquired the pub in November last year so we have been working on the apartment since then painting and replacing the out dated furniture with new. The apartment has 2 bedrooms both a good size a large kitchen and bathroom with walk in shower and a bath. The living room will have at least 1 sofa bed in which will make into a double bed. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer. Access to the property is via a flight of stairs to the rear of the pub which leads onto a private balcony area.
This is a new venture for us, we have not been in the pub or hospitality industry very long although we have owned the local village shop for 21 years buying of Ashley’s family. We are both local and have lived in the area all our lives.
Abbeytown is a growing village it’s just had a newly built housing estate with most now sold. It’s on the cycle route 72 and also the coast to coast route. It has a beautiful Abbey which has been restored after fire damage. There is a large village shop which supplies everything you would need for your stay. We are very close to the Solway coast and also the Lake District is within easy reach. Keswick is one of our favourites a pleasant 30 min journey passing Dodd wood or Winlatter both have extensive walks for all abilities. We live in a beautiful area, our flat is a fantastic base to explore. The border City of Carlisle is also an easy drive around 15 mile. The city is undergoing considerable renovations to the centre, we have the lanes for a shopping fix then plenty of cafe, bars and restaurants to discover. Tullie house museum is also worth a visit & The Castle.
