Located in the center of Poros, this neoclassical manor house is a historical landmark of the island which overlooks the seaside marina. This was the residence of Ioannis Kapodistrias. Ioannis Kapodistrias was a Greek statesman, who served as the foreigh Minister of the Russian empire and was one of the most distinguished politicians and diplomats of Europe. He was the first head of state of independed Greece and is consider the architect of Greek independence. The building prides itself on having two commemorative plaques, one donated by the Russian government and another by the Greek state, which certify that Ioannis Kapodistrias lived in this house. The house, blending traditional and modern elements, is 140sq meters with high ceilings and consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 kithen, 1 bathroom and one living area. The master bedroom is spacious with a canopy bed and access to the balcony. The second bedroom has a double bed with also access to the balcony which is connected to the other two by different doors and lastly the third bedroom has two single beds. View of the blue waters can be seen from the bedside. Baby cot with an anatomical mattress can be provided free of charge upon request
Ideally placed in the center of the harbor, the house is 5 minutes walking distance from the high speed boat and 6 minutes from the ferry boat. There are 14 wide steps that lead to the house, easily accesible from the main street. Everything you need and more is within walking distance, a local supermarket, a bakery with delicious breakfast treats, greek souvlaki, restaurants, cafes and even an art gallery where you can acquaint yourself with conteporary greek artists.
