Company information

You are hosted by David and Marieke, Australian and Dutch nationals, who have lived in many different parts of the world, including Athens, London, Dubai and Qatar. We fell in love with Old Perithia and want to show everyone who comes to Corfu what it is like to be away from the crowds in a mountain village. We both have worked in the hotel industry for many years and are now excited to run our own boutique guesthouse. We particularly enjoy the ‘JOMO’ feel to this area – ‘The Joy of Missing Out’ – one really feels you are away from it all, free from distraction and the feeling of living in the ‘now’. You choose where the day takes you and where your time goes. If this isn’t what a disconnecting should be like, we don’t know what is!

Property information

Our boutique guesthouse is in the historic village of Old Perithia, high in the hills of North East Corfu. We have five suites that sleep up the three adults and a child, as well as a spacious twin en-suite garden room. All suites hold original 17th century architectural features, cleverly combined with modern amenities and cooling, mountain views. It is the quietest area on Corfu and it is the perfect spot to wander and explore the island by day and relax in peace and quiet by night, away from the crowds.

Neighbourhood information

As you turn from the main coastal road towards Old Perithia be prepared to be transformed into a different world where time is not an issue. The village, which was built in the 14th century while the island was under Byzantine rule, located on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator at 426m above sea level. It’s an enchanting place to be and it was the most permanently inhabited places on the island. With sea views and mountains all around, a most inspiring places to be on Corfu. The village is now a protected heritage site whose 130 houses, of which the majority are built in a Venetian style, are mostly ruins or in varying states of dereliction. You will find crumbling stone walls, trees and wild flowers grown within the ruins, broken window shutters and old gardens with broken flowerpots dating back many years. Old Perithia offers guests a captivating insight into Corfu’s history, breathtaking views and a perfect base camp for those wishing to hike up to the summit of Mount Pantokrator or explore the other various hiking trails around. For those who enjoy a bit more action there is fabulous opportunity for road/gravel or mountain biking as well.
