Villa Vakirli is our family vacation house. It is located in the village of Loutra, 15 minutes drive from Rethimno city center. An ideal place if you want to relax and enjoy holidays! The sea is only 10 minutes away but on the same time, you are near the main land of Crete, with a lot of places to visit and discover. The perfect location if you want to start exploring the landscape of Crete.
I come from Crete and the beautiful village of Loutra and I love to share my beautiful house with you!
Loutra is a medieval village of central Crete, perfect for a walk as it is situated in the midst of olive groves, and is characterized by its narrow cobbled streets, Venetian buildings and bougainvillea plants. Visitors of Loutra have the opportunity to visit the fabrika (old oil mill), which was used a few decades ago for oil pressing, the medieval fountain with the Turkish inscription, and the house of Ilias Spantidakis (aka Louis Tikas), leader of a workers' union of coalminers in Colorado, USA. Outside the village, a little track leads to the church of Agios Panteleimon and the memorial to Loutra inhabitants executed by the Nazis during the Axis occupation of Greece in World War II. There is a public transportation with a bus stop, just 20 meters away from the Villa.
