The breakfast was incredible! A true Irish breakfast, homemade to order with lots of specialty foods in an intimate setting. Only 3 rooms keeps it intimate.

We were greeted warmly by Declan and Bernie, and the house is gorgeous! They made very tasty Irish breakfast. The location offers a dark sky so you can see the Milky Way clearly if the sky is clear and the moon isn’t too bright. The garden is...

Beautiful-like a Jane Austen film. We enjoyed the absolute best greeting from Prim, their small terrier who was very excited to meet us. Traveling with our three daughters in their 20s - we had a beautiful evening playing croquet on the lawn,...

'Temple' is a 300 year old country house in the centre of Ireland. It is an hour's drive on the motorway from both Dublin and Galway and well located for touring the midlands. The house and its rooms retain their old world character enhanced by modern comforts. There are three spacious ensuite bedrooms available to guests, all looking out over the garden and the surrounding fields, a lounge with an open log fire, a second lounge with a library of books of local interest and an old-world dining/breakfast room. 'Temple' takes its name from an abbey or church ('Teampall' in Gaelic) that stood here from early Christian times. It was associated with St Ciaran ('Macateer') who went on to establish the famed ecclesiastical centre of craft and learning at nearby Clonmacnois. Today the house retains a peaceful air, and a feeling of being at a remove from the speed and busyness of everyday life. Breakfast at Templemacateer includes free range bacon and eggs from our farm, homemade jams and breads, fresh fruits and locally produced yoghurts.
The Fagan Family have been welcoming guests to our family home since 1987. Our guests bring the house to life and maintain its spirit and fabric. We look forward to sharing our home and its history with you on your travels.
