I work as a software engineer and had the wonderful opportunity to live in a hunting lodge for two years — a truly memorable and enriching experience. I was born and raised in the Westfjords, where a deep connection to nature has always been a part of my life. Few places have resonated with me as deeply as Þingvellir, where the landscape feels both raw and remarkably gentle. Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to live in various parts of Iceland, often close to nature, which I deeply value. Professionally, I’ve contributed to many areas of society through my work as a software engineer, and I’m grateful for the diverse experiences that have come with it.
Þingvellir – Where Nature and History Meet Þingvellir National Park is one of Iceland’s most treasured sites, rich in both geological and historical significance. It lies in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet — a dramatic landscape shaped by the slow drifting apart of these massive plates. This natural wonder makes Þingvellir a unique place on Earth, where you can literally walk between two continents. But Þingvellir is more than just a geological marvel. It’s also the birthplace of Iceland’s democracy. In the year 930 AD, Viking settlers established the Alþingi, one of the world’s oldest parliaments, right here. Chieftains and their followers would gather at Þingvellir each summer to make laws, settle disputes, and celebrate community life in true Norse tradition.
