When I came to the house, I did not expect such a large, comfortable and stylish room. I especially liked that the house is a bit isolated and located directly in front of a nice lake w/ a beautiful sunset.

Company information

From generations of farmers living here in north Iceland we are no different. Living with 450 sheeps, a dog, many horses and chickens makes us the typical farming family. We are older couple; Fríða the mother and Guðmundur the father and the owners of the guesthouse and farm. We have three children; Grétar, Rán and Hrannar – all them participate in our life daily and help us. We have grown up here by the lake, worked and helped around the summer camps and lately watched the houses not being used for years. We hunt in the forest, fish in the lake, hike on the hill and know the story behind every little thing you see around the area. We are environment cautious and try to live as close to the lands as possible. We are an easy going bunch, problem solvers and always happy to help :) We look forward to see you and hope we can help make your stay perfect.

Property information

Make your trip around Iceland even more memorable and book your stay with us. Whether you just need a place to rest your head for a night or want to arrive early and enjoy a walk in the forest and a dip in the hot tub this is the place for you. We‘re placed just inches away from lake Vestmannsvatn where you can see the trout swimming in the water on peaceful evenings and enjoy the bird life in the area. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful scenery make this perfect spot for travelers to rest and enjoy a moment. The two houses that guesthouse is in have a long story, and have been part of the family since the very beginning. The two houses were built in the 1960's as summer camps for children owned by the Icelandic church. Generations of Icelandic kids aged 7-15 had the time of their life in this place and remember it fondly. After being shut down the place has hardly been used at all for years, but our family could let the place been forgot. So now the changes have already started and we try every year to improve our guesthouse. We welcome you with a smile and send you away well rested.

Neighbourhood information

From here its a 30 minutes drive to Húsavik - the Whale watching capital of Iceland and great experience at GeoSea bath. It takes about 45 minutes to drive to Mývatn where you can find endless activities including the nature baths – we can help you figure out what to do there – because there are endless possibilities. 1 hour from here is Akureyri the biggest town in the north, their attractions include a great swimming pool, down town – old town, the Christmas village which is located just outside of town and beautiful restaurants. Every inch of Iceland is worth a visit and if we had to choose which part was the best we would of course say the north is the absolute winner every time of the year.
