This medieval house was built in the 1200s and hosted pilgrims traveling from Canterbury. At the time, the building was known as Boccaletto of San Tommaso or "Boccaletto degli Inglesi". Over the centuries, the hospitality activity moved elsewhere, while the old building became a private residence. Nowadays, the new owner decided to continue their family tradition of hospitality especially after knowing the house's history and gave the name Boccaletto Incantato. The house has preserved its medieval features: peperino stone walls, two authentic fireplaces and exposed wooden beams.
Hospitality has always been a family tradition in my hometown. Back then it wasn't a profit-driven activity but rather a welcoming and familiar accomodation for bishops, teachers, travelers and friends. After learning about the history of this medieval house, it felt like a sign of fate, telling us to continue the tradition in Viterbo. boccaletto.bio.link @boccalettoincantato
