Rahal is a good starting point for exploring Sicily, for excursions to the craters and also for visiting the nearby cities of Catania and its beaches (27km), Syracuse (65) and Taormina (85), and then returning and taking refuge in your oasis of relaxation and comfort. VILLAGE SURROUNDINGS By car you can also reach cities such as Catania, Taormina and the beaches of the Ionian Coast. Excursions to the craters and also for visiting the nearby cities of Catania and its beaches (27km), Syracuse (65) and Taormina (85). In the name of fun you can visit the serra la nave adventure park, Etnaland or go shopping in one of the largest shopping centers in Sicily, Etnapolis. A few minutes' drive away from home is the Serra La Nave Astrophysical Observatory (at 1700 m above sea level), a qualified research center equipped with cutting-edge instruments including a robotic telescope. Highly recommended is one of the "Nature Trails": the "Monte Nero degli Zappini Trail" and also the splendid "Nuova Gussonea" alpine botanical garden, which hosts rare vegetation from southern Italy. Rahal is located 1 minute's drive from the main square of the town where you will find bars where you can taste the best arancini in Sicily (so say the Ragalnese people😜), pizzeria and restaurant, pharmacy, bakery and a little further on the supermarket. I therefore advise you for your delicious dinners to buy sausage with "caliceddi" (a spontaneous vegetable), mushrooms, Etna wine and a taste of mustard, prepared both with the must and with prickly pears according to ancient traditional recipes.
