Property information

The House Strevi is a boutique, luxury Bed and Breakfast found in the rolling hills of the Piedmont wine region. The area has Unesco World heritage status due to its outstanding universal value and exceptional testimony to cultural tradition. The aim is to find exactly what one would want to find being invited into a home. Old fashioned hospitality, friendly efficient service, a location tucked away in the vineyards within a Medieval village. With a commitment to having a tailored and bespoke service, The House remains small with three large double bedrooms, all with en-suit bathrooms. The House has a large garden to the front with a Roman fountain inspired pool and lounge area within the original portico. There is a kitchen garden to the back where organic vegetables and fruit are grown to compliment the offer at breakfast. Breakfast is served under a 16th century frescoed ceiling in the dining room. Guests share the space where a breakfast of bread and pastries, home-made jam and butter with fruit, tea and coffee is served. If guests would like eggs, we just ask to know how they want them cooked. We handmake our own honey, olive oil and oatmeal soap for use by guests and offer organic shower gel. Our shared spaces are places you can find time to relax. The Salone has a fireplace, comfortable furnishings and there is plenty to read in our library in the drawing room. There is an honesty bar where you can relax or entertain friends. We can arrange transport to and from the airport or station. Should you wish to organise anything special - maybe dinners, lunch, truffle hunting, walks or cycling just let us know. There are extensive vineyards in the area and we love to organise wine tasting at our favourite local vine yards, either directly at the Wineries or at The House. We also run an Artist Residency program in the Spring and Autumn (@artsinspaces). The House is open from April to October and costs 160euro a night for a minimum of 2 nights stay.

Neighbourhood information

Originally built in 1532 and surrounded by fields and woodland, The House formed the original part of the Borgo Inferiore of the medieval village of Strevi. The House began life as the summer residence for the Count of Genoa and Ashley is only the 5th owner in nearly 500 years. Strevi is between Turin, the capital city of Piedmont to the north and Genoa on the Ligurian coast to the south west. Turin is known for its refined architecture and cuisine. The Alps rise to the northwest of the city. Stately baroque buildings and old cafes line Turin's boulevards and grand squares such as Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo. Genoa is a major European port city and the capital of northwest Italy's Liguria region. It's known for its central role in maritime trade over many centuries. Christopher Columbus is Genovese. In the old town stands the Romanesque Cathedral of San Lorenzo, with its black-and-white-striped facade and frescoed interior. To the west lie the celebrated towns of Alba, known for its white truffles and the famous Festa di Tartufo as well as Asti, both within Monferrato known as one of the most important wine districts of Italy.
