Hi, I’m Neranga — born and raised right here in beautiful Bentota. This villa has been in my family for generations, and it’s now been lovingly restored to welcome guests from around the world.
What I love most about hosting is sharing the genuine charm of Sri Lankan culture and the peaceful rhythm of life by the coast. Whether it's relaxing in the garden, dipping into the pool, or exploring the local area, I want your stay to feel like a home away from home.
I'm a big fan of local food, cricket (you might catch a game nearby!), and helping travellers discover hidden gems most tourists miss. Our family takes pride in offering warm, personalised hospitality — we host just one group at a time, so your privacy and comfort are always guaranteed.
We look forward to welcoming you to our historic home — and to Bentota, a place that means the world to us.
Welcome to Bentota
Bentota is more than just a beach town — it's a place that carries the quiet charm of everyday life in coastal Sri Lanka. Located just over 60 km south of Colombo, this riverside town has long been a favourite among those looking for slow mornings, golden sunsets, and a deep sense of place.
Historically, Bentota has been a key stop along the ancient southern trade route and is known for its contributions to Ayurvedic healing, cinnamon production, and traditional craftsmanship. The name ‘Bentota’ is believed to have come from the legendary demon ‘Bem’ who ruled the riverbank — a mix of folklore and geography that reflects the richness of the area.
Growing up here, life moved at a different pace. Fishing boats bobbed in the river at dawn, cricket matches played out in school grounds, and evenings were often spent under coconut trees sharing stories with neighbours. That rhythm still exists — and it’s something you’ll feel when you arrive.
Bentota might be better known today for its beaches and resorts, but underneath it all is a local spirit that hasn’t changed. Whether you're seeking adventure on the water, a cultural immersion, or simply a tropical escape, Bentota offers the perfect blend of experiences for every kind of traveller.
