Great access from the A4 Colombo-Batticaloa Highway at Kilometre post 185/15 which is only 4 kilometres from Beragala junction. A newly built modern boutique three bedroom villa set in 5 acres designed to blend in with the local surroundings. Spacious comfortable accommodation looks out through the valley onto the southern hills of Sri Lanka and a view of Udawalawe Tank can be seen on many days. The temperature range is normally between 22 and 30 degrees Celcius during the day (no need for air-con). One day there will be a clear view towards the south coast and another will wrap the property in a cloud of mist. The 5 acre property has several spots to chill out, relax with running water from the stream and birdsong breaking the peace. The natural water unheated swimming pool is a great place to have a refreshing swim or relax and read a book encompassed by a green landscape. All three bedrooms are on-suite and have a comfortable king size bed with large windows providing spectacular views of the southern landscape.
I spent 12 years in the UK prior to returning to Sri Lanka with my husband and building our dream home in the Sri Lankan Hills surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. I love cooking and we grow as much organic fruit and vegetables at the property as we can keeping the food miles as low as possible. In order to support the environment we continually plant more trees and all types of plants on the land which will provide us with a wider variety of food sources as they mature, secure the land from erosion and also protect and restore the biodiversity in the surroundings. We have rescue street dogs and ducks on the property. We hope that you are dog lovers like we are however we will encourage them to keep their distance during your stay. We are really excited to welcome you to our home and hope that you have a relaxing time surrounded by nature of the Hill Country. We love it here and hope that you will love it too.
The highlight for us has to be the changing colours of the skies every morning and evening when looking out the windows onto the beautiful landscape through the valley below us. Sometimes the mist blankets the area which provides a quiet and different type of atmosphere. On a clear night you can see a sky full of stars. It's hard not to take lots of photographs of the stunning scenery. There is some wildlife that visit the land including monkeys, birds and the occasional mongoose and deer. There are plenty of sights within a reasonable car journey such as Diyaluma Waterfalls, Bambarakanda Waterfalls and "our favourite" Horton Plains National Park (Worlds End, Mini Worlds End and Bakers Falls). It's a great hike and well worth the effort. Lipton Seat and Dambethenna Tea Factory, Adisham Bungalow and also worth consideration. Ella is only a 45 minute drive and is close to Ella Gap, Ravanna Falls and the Seven Arch Bridge. We are 3 or so hours from the coast (3.5 hours from Arugam Bay) and therefore we are also a good place to spend some time to chill out mid way through a tour of the Island.
