Had a wonderful stay! The environment was nice and serene—perfect for a peaceful getaway. Easy access to Kekirawa town made things very convenient. The caretaker was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

The Waluwa was built over 100 years ago on land gifted by King George V to the local village headman. It has been in the current owner's family for 75 years and has been their home until very recently. The Waluwa is set in 2.25 acres of land and set far back from the main road which allows for a quiet and calm environment. The Wauwa has a large living and dining area, three bedrooms, one driver's accommodation, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a large traditional kitchen. In the surrounding grounds there are 15+ varieties for fruit trees, and many types of animals can be seen during the day at different times of the year - elephants, deer, jungle fowl, dwarf deer, hare, giant squirrels, eagles, monitor lizards, snakes, macaques, langurs. There are also many varieties of birds - Malabar Pied Hornbills, woodpeckers, owls, eagles, etc. Many are endemic species.
The best thing about hosting this property is that it gives guests an opportunity to spend some time in a genuine Sri Lankan Walauwa. It is not an expensive boutique hotel like many holiday Walauwas in Sri Lanka, but a normal home and it is a pleasure to be able to make it affordable to guests on all budgets. This property belongs to me and my wife, and we are based in Kandy. I will be dealing with the bookings and enquiries, and in Kekirawa you will be looked after by Ranjit and Shriani.
Located on the A9 road, near Kekirawa train station, it is an ideal base to plan your visits to religious, historical, and archaeological attractions in Dambula, Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa. The Kekiwara train station is within walking distance and you can catch trains to Colombo, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee. There also frequent buses to Kandy and Anuradhapura. The nearest place of interest is Kala Wewa, 13km away (20 mins by car). It is a vast reservoir built in 460CE. Near to Kala Wewa is 'Aukana' - a 46ft statue of the Buddha carved out of a rock face, created around the 5th century. Dambulla Temple with its cave paintings is 24km away (30 mins). Sigiriya Rock Fortress is 36km away (45 mins). Anuradhapura is 42km away (50mins). Kekirara town is about 3km away and can be reached in 5mins in a tuk-tuk. It has supermarkets, pharmacies, and shops for supplies. Along the route to the town there are many small affordable and clean restaurants and cafes serving a variety of local food. There is a village Buddhist temple within walking distance, through rural parts of the town. There many irrigation 'tanks' (small man-made lakes) dotted throughout. These offer opportunities for bird watching.
